Hey everybody,
So I was just checking out ebay and BC products b/c it's been mentioned and wanted to see what was going on over there. Guess what I found? Someone wanting to sell their infomation on how they make samples for $5! I'm so glad that wahm.com women are generous and helpful with their information for free :)

So speaking of samples, do any of you make your own and what do you recommend? Do you buy the pre-made samples? Give them out freely or what? I just bought some lip color samples - 1.25 is not bad; they are so cute! 1 sample lasts a while though! More than just one try to see how they like it.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the free advise :)
Take care, Deb

I do make my own samples. I buy small bags at Walmart. They are craft bags or jewelry bags (not sure what the actual name is) with the ziploc seal on them. You can find them in the craft section. I put 1 baths worth of Therapeutic Bath minerals inside and staple a cute card and explanation. I also put one fizzy foot soak in a bag to give to the hostess to soak her feet. Those are the only 2 I do.

I really love it when BeautiControl has the minis for purchase! For my clients who needed a small gift, I put together a little mini assortment. It worked out great and I got a lot of orders for them!

Giving away the minis at your spa parties is up to you. I do give them away and call it a thank you for your order gift or attending the party. It is usually the mini hand cream when we get them in sample size.

Hope that helps!

Recently my friend asked if BC had any non-clogging moisturizer. She doesn't use any b/c of that problem. So I told her I'd give her a sample. But then I thought that I'd just give her a sample of the entire Skinlogics line, minus the scrub. I didn't even have to follow up on her. She was sold!!!The product sells itself! I used the bottles at Wal-mart that come in a bag for "travel." They have purple lids. I've also kept sample bottles that aquativa leaves on our doors. Those are the perfect size! I try to give a sample of 10 days worth. The trainer at BU that I attended recommended doing this. It worked!

Kimberlee,

What a great idea! Did you just use skinlogics or do you use the gold? Do you also hand them a skin sensor/questionaire so they order the correct one for their skin type?

Thanks for sharing.

Yay! I'm so glad others are encouraging the samples. 10 days worth huh? I like that idea.

One question: I noticed on the microderm abrasion ad in a recent achiever that there are 6 uses in the facial creme. Do any of you use the microderm and does it only last you 6?
I must not use near enough because mine has lasted WAY longer than 6 uses!! I use it sparingly and it still does the job.

My director said that she can get 12-16 uses out of the micro derm. I've used it 6 or 7 times so far and the jar is still full.

I bought some of the travel size squeeze bottles atWal-Martand put some of the Show of Hands in them. They travel much better and are easier to use. I carry one in my purse just in case the opportunity arises to let someone else try it.

Deb, the microderm lasts way longer than 6 uses!! I've been using my jar for 5 mos now! I may be half way through it, if that. The trainer at BU said to tell your clients that if it is flying off the brush when they use it, they are putting too much on their face. (Customers love tips like that.) Well, no matter how little I use, it flies everywhere. It's so hard to use on the cheeks b/c I like to watch the application, but it flies, and I have gotten a little bit in my eye twice already. smileys/smiley18.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif

About my samples (Vicki), it depends on the client. My friend that just ordered has very similar skin to me, so I gave her skinlogics samples. I didn't even think to give her a skinsensor card. Ugh! I will do that from now on, thank you!! I did have a potential customer (already a BC customer) that was in her 40s and had been on Skinlogics for years. Wow. She did the skin sensor and it told her Platinum, but I didn't believe it. So I gave her samples of the platinum and gold. And the plat was too oily for her. Well, I did very poorly on follow up with her, so I am sure she is just ordering from her original supplier that she doesn't know. I learned my lesson. Live and learn!

Here's how I have made samples recently...

I have an online forum w/about 35 members. Several of them have requested samples. So, what I did was take one of those pill boxes w/a compartment for each day of the week, and in each day I put a few uses of different products. In "Sunday" I put the Show of Hands, in "Monday" I put the Extreme Repair for hands, in "Tuesday" I put some of the Lip Apeel line treatment, in "Wednesday" I put the Lip Apeel lip balm, in "Thursday" I put some of the green tea masque, in "Friday" I put one eye pad (cut in half) and folded it up, and in "Saturday" I put some of the Skinlogics facial scrub. I also enclosed a product guide, and I wrote out what product was in each "day" and what page they were on. I told her how to use each one (for instance, the Show of Hands followed by the hand cream; how to use the two Lip Apeel products; etc...) Then, I mailed out everythingin a bubble envelope.

The "pill box sample"is a trick my director taught me!smileys/smiley2.gif I thought it was pretty clever. You can get this type of pill box for around $1.00 at Wal-Mart.

Does the pill box container which holds the show of hands instant manicure leak? Just curious. I can see the pillbox holding the other creams well. Great idea.. thanks for sharing the information

In my (limited) experience it hasn't leaked, probably because when I put the Show of Hands in the compartment, I'm using the product spatula so there is only a minimal amount of the liquid...it's mostly scrub.

Try it, it's really pretty cool!smileys/smiley2.gif

I will give it a try. Thanks for the heads up on sample making!!!

I recently am getting over a cold and soaking in the tub with the bath salt did wonders. I am thinking of sending out the ziplock samples to friends who are not feeling well (attached to get well card) or in a care package as a gift. More ideas for the future sampling use.

HI

I am visiting from another WAHM section, I am an Arbonne consultant but have made many good friends here in similar fields, and was interested to read this thread. The pillbox idea is great, and I wanted to share my source for sample bottles and containers. It is much cheaper than walmart for travel bottles. Maybe someone has posted this here before, but just in case, I thought I would share!

Look under demo organizers/poly cons/containers

they have small bottles that are great for shampoo or more liquidy lotions, and small tubs that are leak proof for more runny or oily products. If any of you have ever seen our Sea Salt Scrub that is all botanical oils and salt, it can leak pretty bad in most containers. I have even sent these through the mail with no problem! They have little "paint pot" like you may remember from paint by number sets from your childhood. They are a great size and you get 24 for $2.

Much of the stuff on there is geared towards pink, if you know what I mean, but much of it is all purpose!

Best of luck

I'm digging up old posts, but this really caught my eye.

Is there any way to make samples of the skinlogics gold? In my head, I can't think of any possible way to sample the foaming cleanser.

If not, would you just let people try the skinlogics of the skinlogics platinum instead? I have many women who want to try the gold but I can't figure out how to do it.

I look forward to hearing suggestions!

i do not know of a good way to give people a sample of the skinlogics
gold cleanser. However, you could offer to let them try it as part of a
personal skin care consultation.

here is another site for little containers to give out samples(as well
as makeup applicators and demo spatulas). you have to buy them in bulk,
but it would be good to split among your unit.

Re the Skinlogics Gold, BC is relatively unknown in my area and none of my hostesses were buying the skincare special (half price) until I started giving samples to them during hostess coaching. I give a sample set (usually Skinlogics Gold) during hostess coaching to anyone who has booked a spa but is not completely sold on the skincare. Thus far every one has purchased the skincare at their spa...once they try it, they are hooked!

I put the Gold cleanser in one of those small disposable tubs (such as Ziploc or Glad brand)you can get in the plasticware aisle at Walmart. That way I can spritz a few days worth into one container and it fits.

However, be warned that within hours that foam will turn to liquid and there will only be a tiny bit in the container! I just tell my customers that it's a foaming cleanser when it comes out of the bottle (loses volume when stored in other containers) and to just put a bit of the liquid in their hand and lather it up and put it on their face. It looks odd to see such a bit of liquid cleanser in a big container, but it must still work, as so far every hostess has bought it.

Hope this helps!

Hi, I use 1oz portion cups that I bought at a party supply store. I label them with the product, and my contact info!! Its a great way to do samples and the containers are recycleable!!smileys/smiley1.gif
