My suggetion would be to get out there and meet people. It sounds like you're making lots of drop offs and ads where people don't get to know YOU! I know myself, I don't call the person on the back of the catalogs left at the salon. And I've never had anyone call me on the ones I've left behind. Maybe ask the salon for a day where you can set up a display and BE there to talk with people, just casually. If they can see it in person, try it on and get hooked that way, you'll probably have better luck.

Hi Doreen,
I agree with Lisa that it's important for the customers to get to know you as a person. After all, that is what sets you apart from the other advisors in your company. The onlyproduct you have to offer that is different than anyone else is your personal touch.
One place that might be a good place to ask about having a small display up for a day, is a Curves gym. In case you're not aware of who they are, it's a gym that is exclusively women. Maybe you can offer No sales tax to gym members.
One thing I've learned is that usually the DS companies have hostess plan in place. It's alright to offer an additional booking bonus, but try not to give away the store. Sometimes it makes us look desperate if we start offering too much to our hostesses. Our products are worth the retail price. And they are worth the effort for our hostesses to have a party/show/class.
Things will pick up after the first of the year!!
Merry Christmas,
Brenda

Doreen,
It's been a slow month for me in sales also. Our Christmas deadline was in early December so most people are spending their money on places that will get them their orders in time for Christmas.
Now - I have recruited 24 new team members so far this month - so my focus has shifted to recruiting this month and will shift back to an equal amount of recruting and sales in January. I'm excited to see our new product catalog for 2006 and so very glad for my new team members to be with me. I can't wait to see them fly with this company. smileys/smiley9.gif

Aside from the advice already offered, also keep in mind to think ahead. I don't know why, and it drives a lot of nuts sometimes, but a ton of potentially hosts/hostesses out there just plain feel as though they must book something 30 to 45 days in advance. I know, I know.....it's not as if we're planning a big party or wedding here, so it's not as though they need THAT much time to plan a simple home party smileys/smiley36.gifbut a lot people think like this.
So, for example, right now is a good time to think about and book for both January and February. Perhaps your company might have some special incentives coming up and/or new product!
Don't worry......you will start of 2006 with a bang! You can do it!

My December's are always wierd. I had no parties this month and still $1500 in sales. And I didn't work it as aggressively as I could. I did do one craft show and one open house for a friend (which was a bomb--they almost always are because the hostess is not always coachable. She just things people will show up). The rest was repeat customers and those who had catalogs. Only $100 of it was mine for gifts because I'd already bought ahead.
So thinks will happen. :-) It just takes time.

I have been slow for December too. I started in September and it has been hot and cold. I had a really great streak and then nothing. It takes time and patiences. I agree with Lisa, talk with the salon managers about setting up a table. You could be there and display the jewelry. If you can swing it, do a drawing for a manicure at the salon and a gift certificate for your jewelry. Someone from my team did that and ended up with $300 in sales and 4 bookings. One of her bookings ended up being over $1500. Follow through is key. Write down you goals, stick them on the fridge and continue what you are doing. Success isn't only in dollars but in reaching your goal. Good luck.

Alot of it is about getting your name out there. People will not know you represent your company unless you tell them. For me I don't like to have people tracked into my house maybe try a book party or offer to have a party at a Panera Bread Meeting room or some other meeting room space for them.

I don't ever do any AVON parties in December except once in a while a nail or pedicure party to get everyone ready for the holidays - I mostly focus on doing holiday open houses - either participating in other peoples or having my own - I had two of my own this fall - one in November and one in December - did about 3000 in sales between the two - which was pretty good - people are more conservative this year I think in general -
December is to darn busy with normal orders and deliveries it works out for me that people are not super into parties -
I did have one request for a Mark party - but they agreed to do a New years one - I didn't have time before that - I save Christmas week for family - make sure I have all my deliveries done by 12/22 - I learned that from a couple years ago - i was out delivering in a snowstorm on Christmas eve - grrrr
january will be pretty dead for me - so I am doing coupons for my customers - decending discounts as a part of thier christmas present - that helped last year quite a bit - plus I have to put up signs everywhere for myself that month to practice the power of three - it is easy to get a little discouraged during a slow month - But hang in there - stay focused - it will get better -
