Hi all!

I'm wanting to put together gift baskets for the holidays and I've come up with a list of scents that I'm contemplating, but can't afford them all and since I haven't smelled any of them yet, can I get your opinions on which ones you think will be favorites? I'm thinking I'll order about 5 or 6 different scents. Here's my list:

Christmas Cookie

Christmas Essence

Cinnamon Raisin Bun

Gingerbread

Home for the Holidays

Hot Apple Pie

Mulberry Spice

Banana Nut Bread

Country Spice

Cranberry

Hollyberry

Mulled Cider

Pumpkin Spice

Snickerdoodle (this is my sister's favorite cookie, does it really smell like the real thing?)

Also, which ones do you think would still be popular other times of the year besides the holidays, I don't wanna get stuck with too many candles that I won't be able to sell once the holidays are over with.

Thanks so much ladies!

Hi, Gail! This time of year I would stay away from all the holiday named ones. The ones from above that go over well for me are

Cinn raisin bun

Hot apple pie

country spice (home for the holidays smells similar to this one)

spiced cranberry

and carrot cake instead of banana nut bread (seems to sell better)

gingerbread (although holidayish - still is good after the holidays.

Change Christmas cookie to sugar cookie or vanilla cookie

NOTE about Snickerdoodle - I was disapointed - it smells great BUT does NOT smell like the cookie we all love, but it smells more like the snickers bar, which is nothing like the cookie. (Just a warning to fellow snickerdoodle cookie lovers. However, sugar cookie smells somewhat similar to it.)

Don't forget sweet orange chili pepper - it is a hot seller of mine.

Good luck!

Hi Gail!!!smileys/smiley4.gif

I'm burning Christmas cookie now.... mmmm. It's got kind of an anise and chocolate scent?

For the top 5, I would recommend at least the

Chili Pepper and Sweet Orange (like an orange grove in your home with a beautiful orange pink glow)

Spiced Cranberry

Gingerbread

Banana Nut Bread

Cinnamon Raisin Bun

mmmmmmmmmm I can just smell them now!

ENJOY!smileys/smiley32.gif

So does buttercream smell like frosting? I like the smell of frosting but not the taste, lol.

Are you planning to buy votives or jars? Is your main goal to build up
your
scent samples or to stock inventory?

If you want to increase the scents you have on hand, I'd encourage you to
go
with the votives- If you can sell them to customers at $3 each or 6 for
$12,
then you have the whole case paid for when you sell 4 or 6 of them. Then
you have extras on hand to pass out to promote your biz, grate up for
scent
samples, or can go to personal use. (Guess which of these will be the fate
of the majority of MY extra votives!0 smileys/smiley29.gif smileys/smiley36.gif smileys/smiley29.gif

If you have an established customer base or if you don't need a case of
jars ASAP, why not take a running list of orders from friends, family and
customers and then place an order when you get up to or near 12?

I envy you for your "dilemma" with choosing! I have SO MANY scents I
want to try and it will be a while before I place another order. BUT, I
should be getting a case of goodies AND my COTM today!

WOO HOO! Christmas is comin' early at THIS girl's house! smileys/smiley36.gif

My suggestion is to pick 6-10 scents, a few from each variety - baked goods, fruity, floral, etc.

Too many choices and people get overwhelmed. They'll find something they like from that. Good luck!

FRENCH VANILLA too!

Yes Kitt, I remember, just added that to my list to order today!!!

Hahhaa Tracy, that would have been a MUCH shorter list! I know, it's hard to choose, I look at the list of scents and there are only a couple on there that I don't think I'd like!

Jackie, I like your idea of going with a few from each category because not everyone likes the yummy food ones like me, everybody's different. I was gonna try to stay with Christmas-ey (is that a word) scents but I may go with some others too.

Kitt- I'm planning on getting votives to do the gift baskets and then with what I don't use make scent samples and keep some to be able to show or sell.

What about Creme Brulee, do most people like that? I think it sounds heavenly, and I love just saying it, it sounds so fancy, lol!! Plus I don't think I've seen a candle before in that scent from any other company, so it's unique too!!

Here is a pretty consistent top sellers list over the nearly 3 years I've been with Scent-sations. Some have changed as new scents come in, but this is the "rule of thumb" I stick with when ordering to keep in stock or do fundraisers.

Mulberry Spice
Orange Creamsicle
Patchouli Spice

Is Patchouli Spice really a hot seller? That's one that doesn't tickle my fancy but I realize everyone's sniffer is different.

Right now I LOVE Sex on the Beach & Mulled Cider.
