View Full Version : Simple Spa Party

Hi everyone,
For those who have done spa parties, do you find doing foot soaks practical? Do you put something down on the floor to prevent water stains? What would you use to sanitize between soaks?
I would like to have a spa party and am trying to figure out a way to make it fun and not like a lot of hard work and clean up after.
I guess candles, mood music would also add to the atmosphere. How would you incorporate the skin care with the spa? I am thinking the client uses the face products in the washroom and then goes for the foot soak. At the foot soak, you could then also show them the foundations and pick a colour for them.
Any ideas would be appreciated and past experiences.
Thank you!! Love this board.

I love doing spa parties - hostesses like it better too (at least that's my experience). I have "stations" - station 1- at the kitchen sink for the SSS hand wash and follow up with the awak. body lotion or basic hand cream; stations 2 - foot soak (tubs from wal-mart or $ store with marbles in the bottom and bath salts). I also put the unw. scrub (during the holidays) to exfoliate their legs (up to knees) and body lotion for them to use afterward. station 3 - face station with the intel and r9 lines. I usually have people divide into groups (I have 3 soak tubs). They put on the r9 masque and then go do the tubs - this way, they soak while the masque works. they do their legs and then go back and wash off the masque and do the rest of the line. If they are using the thermal masque, I have them do the hand station or sit and chat with them about the products, the biz, etc. Everyone has a good time and rotates through the stations.

I also play the game where whoever asks about products gets a hershey's kiss and about the biz, they get 2 kisses. While they are waiting for the masques, people usually get to talking and starting asking me a lot of questions.

I should mention that before they start the stations, I do a quick 20-minute presentation from the flip chart. Towards the end, I give everyone a gift card tin and in each tin is a picture of what they get in the deal/no deal game (I wrap a pretty ribbon around the tin to prevent from opening before we play the game). Since I started doing these types of parties - I get about 80% of the people booking their own parties, good sales, and the hostesses have so much fun that they usually book again.

HTH!

Reviving this old post to get some more info from Minley!

Minley, how many people do you have on average at these parties? What is your ideal number of people to work with?

Thanks!
Marjon

I think the spa parties are a great approach- it works with my budget, and people love to be pampered and unwind! I just got the peel and primer in the mail, and this is what I'm planning on doing:

"Spa Escape"

*Have a candle warmer on with a small glass of about 1/3 cup water warming in it and a scoop of the Unwind salts in it. LOVELY - got this idea from a previous thread! Very nice. Also, have some unscented candles lit for mood, and lower lights along with some nice soothing music.

1. Introduce myself, give gift to host (Bath Salts), explain that today they're going to learn a little about Arbonne while feeling, tasting and seeing the difference for themselves!

2. Peel time! Head to the bathroom to use the Re9 wash, then everyone puts on the peel and I give them each a warm, wet towel (heated in a crockpot.) They relax with this towel and peel on their face for 15 minutes, and during that time I explain a little bit about Arbonne, the products, the difference. Foot soaks during this time are a possibility. I've never done them, but it would fit in well.

3. Finish the facials with the Re9 kit, explaining a little about each product as we go. To finish, everyone gets to try the primer (Silky velvet! Love it!) and the 3neutral liquid foundation to really feel that lovely Arbonne difference. I'll bring foundation color swatches so they can pick their perfect color, but I can't buy one of each- not in the budget yet!

4. Finally, I have everyone try the SSS and get them each a glass of the energy drink- its so yummy. They can enjoy the snacks the host has provided while they browse the catalog and asking questions. I'll incorporate a game here, a booking game that I haven't decided on as of yet! But booking games are really, really important.

I am trying to book "Spa Escapes" for March right now, featuring the peel- I think that key here is to keep everyone feeling super-pampered, little touches like fluffy, soft white towels (use "FREE" detergent, so there's no scent or soap on them!) and little touches like that. I make sure to share with them about the products and how to enjoy them (3 ways to win) but I also make little take-home packets with that general info so they can check that out later, too.

Thanks for the great ideas. I too would like to incorporate the peel. We did a spa pamper party last Saturday starting with a presentation, then the foot soak, hand scrub when they arrive and then the complete re9 including scrub and masque. It was a successful party. I also had recently bought Whisper lipstick (cool) and all three women at the party were cool toned. Each one bought a lipstick just because I had it there and they liked it.
One thing we noticed is that it is a lot of work for the foot soak so we are considering just having the hostess have one. Love the name you are using "Spa Escape". Good idea about the slow cooker to keep the face cloths warm. Can't wait to buy the primer!!
We played the left right game and it was a real ice breaker.

Hello Everyone!

I thought I would just share that I believe the term "spa escape" is a trademark term of BeautiControl.....honestly I am about 90% sure but I could be wrong. You might want to check to be sure you can use it freely.

FDD from Mary Kay here. Rachel, denise40 is right, I just
checked the BeautiControl website and the term "Spa Escape" is
trademarked. No problems though, it just shows that great minds
think alike smileys/smiley1.gif. I did want to come on to thank you for providing a spa format that can easily be adapted to my business.smileys/smiley32.gif

How about:
Spring Spa Escape? Would that work? It's the word "Escape" that is so wonderful especially this time of year!
Spa Escapelicious? lol!

I also like the idea of giving each guest a small bag of Unwind Salts. Can wrap up nicely in a small organza bag and would not be too costly.

On the organza bags, I would recommend putting the salts first in the little 1x1 or 1x2 ziplock bags first. Before I started doing that there was a powdery residue coming through the organza bags. You can take a needle or pin to pierce the ziplocks here & ther so the wonderful aroma is still able to escape.
I gave a couple to the gals at the post office & everyone who came in wanted to know what that great smell was! They just had them setting off to the side out of sight. If you know someone in a public forum like that that would pass outyour business cards when peple ask, it's a great set up. For these situations, I would recommend not using the ziplock bags since you want the full effectto be smelled& just setting the bags in a votive holder so the powder doesn't get on everything.

I found pre-cut circles of organza and the Dollar Tree. They are for brides to put bird seed in. I used two of them and I didn't get residue and the frangarence was wonderful!! They were really pretty tied with a bow.

Here are a few little ways I think these Bath Salts would be LOVELY:
(some have already been mentioned!)

1. The bath, of course :)
2. Foot soak
3. In individual, pale blue organza baggies w/plastic wrap inside
- give with order drop offs, business cards, as party favors, with coupons, ect.
4. Toss in pajama drawer (in little baggies) for super-soothing smelling pjs!
5. I haven't tried this YET... but I was thinking, wouldn't these be lovely in the dryer? In an organza bag, tumbling with the clothes.... what do you think?
6. In the candle warmer!

Awesome party plan Rachel! I'm going to totally steal it for my party this Thursday!
I also play the hershey kiss game and it totally rocks, I think a booking game should be mandatory at every party!

Oh minley, how did I totally skip over your post! I really like the idea of 3 stations! That's a great idea. I was just having the guests come in and do the SSS at the sink, then my presentation, do abooking game then have guests try the products.

I've never done the spa approach so that's my goal this week!!

I would test this with a towel or something before clothes, just to be safe - I am more worried about the organza melting than anything else

As for the pj drawer, many people spray the mist in their drawers, or spray their sheets for relaxation - that may be more reliable, and less messy than the salts, but I love these ideas! Keep them coming

Please let us know if they buy the products you use for the 'spa' or if they just buy more/less of other things because they are relaxed

Thanks for sharing!

About putting the salt in the dryer. I have done this by just scooping a scoop of Unwin* salts in with my bedding and ALL Clear, and my bedding smells soooooo good!!

I wanted to stop in and let everyone know how the "Spa Retreat" went!
The hostess is one of my consultants who purchases the products for herself but doesn't do the business. She's one of my very closest friends.hIt was her and I, plus four guests- perfect size for the spa. I had a "spa-like" cd playing that I rented from the library, and some candles and the Unwind salts in a candle warmer.

All the girls came at about the same time, and I was happy to see that they were all dressed comfy (sweats and such) - I had included that in the invite! I quickly introduced Arbonne to them, basically saying that I loved these pure, safe and beneficial products and was excited to give them all the chance to try them today! We headed to the bathroom and everyone used the wash, then back to the other room to do warm towel peels. They loved these! I didn't really do a schpeel or anything during this. I might next time, we'll see. Then, we finished the facials in the bathroom, and everyone tried the primer and 3n foundation and matched their perfect color with the swatches. As we went, I explained everything casually but informatively. Then, they all had a little break and enjoyed their fresh faces and the hostesses snacks and the energy drink.

Then we played a quick game I called "Super 8," where I told them they could ask me ANY Arbonne question they wanted- from my favorite FYI scent to my monthly income, and I had to answer- for every question, the asker would get a hershey's kiss, and the first one with 8 kisses won a little mini spa prize (organza bag with bath salts and a mini hand cream) This was great- everyone had questions about the things I would normally cover in a schpeel! All four girls opened 35% off accounts, sales were almost 350, and the host got $100 for free plus some holidaymakeup for abooking gift. Between 4 girls, all 20 years old and on college student budgets, this wasn't bad at all!!

No bookings thus far :( But, I'm emailing each of the new consultants to let them know that they can take advantage of the new consultant benefits through the end of this month, and hosting a show is a great way to do this!

I found that the primer was super popular, and the peel, too. The skin care products and foundation were good, too, as well as the eye makeup remover- all things that I focused on at the show!

I think that about covers it :)

If you don't mind me butting in....
I'm obviously with BeautiControl, and found your post on a search for Spa Escape.

Anyway, just wanted to add a hint for bookings that works for us. Your hostess only gets full product benefits (i.e. free products) if she has 2 of her friends book an appointment with you. That can come from someone there or someone who couldn't make it, but my hostess won't get her free product untilher friends have their dates on my calendar. Otherwise, I only give them 10% off their total purchase that night. That might help boost your bookings and get your business busier.

Hope you don't mind me adding! Good luck with your business!

Mine went great thanks for asking!

The hostess had about 9 ladies there - a bit more than I had anticipated and a little crowded but I made it work!Everyone didn't arrive at the same time so when they wouldcome in I had them use the SSS at the sink and I was making small chat. Once everyone arrived I had the hostess soak her feet in the basin while I explained what we were going to do that night. There were a few questions and then we were off to the kitchen to wash faces and apply the peel. After we were done with the peel I finished with the entire skincare line.

We moved back to the living room and did 3 minutes of questions. For each question asked I gave out hershey kisses and after 3 minutes (I brought a timer) the winner got a goody bag of a mini SSS and lotion.

After the game we moved on to makeup - I let the girls go crazy. They could try anything they wanted! We started with the primer and foundation 3N. I had a bunch of requests for eye shadow tricks so I gave the hostess my color chart and she picked a technique and I showed everyone how to do that - I think she picked Audrey Hepburn from the Krista Embry demo. Everyone seemed to have a great time and I got one booking! I also have a girl who is interested in the business.

Unfortunately, the party wasn't a huge success. I had a ton of requests for foundation samples and lip gloss samples but not a ton of orders. I have to say that I'm glad we don't do makeup samples because if we did I'm afraid that I wouldn't have gotten any orders.

The hostess had a great time and it looked like her friends did too! It was all smiles and giggles the entire time.

The booking I recieved requested a makeup party so look for that thread to come! :)
