I'm trying to research our trip since my DH said "let's go" and I'm already missing the kids! A part of me is debating on buying in for them. But my DH and I really need the time, and I have a sitter lined up.

Anyone take their kids on a trip? And how much would you pay a sitter for Friday - Wednesday, non-stop (well Alex will be in school and she works so my mom will help with Billy).

I know I would definately miss the kids too. However, you and your husband also need the alone time. I say go for it, relax and enjoy. The time will go by fast and before you know it you will be back in the bustle of things.

I know from past posts that you and your hubby need some time alone. If you already have a sitter lined up, GO FOR IT! It will be so good for you....mmmm, warm sun!! Have a great time!

Debbie, I voted to go with just your husband. I already know you're a great mom, but you'll be that much better and "refreshed" after the trip with your husband. I've been to the Bahamas 3 times...ALL without kids!! It's definitely a place that is perfect to be alone with your husband smileys/smiley2.gif.

Hey, if you need any ideas on things to see or things to do, just ask me. I love it there!

I voted "I can't believe you're asking" smileys/smiley36.gif That sounds like me! I can't stand to leave them home as much as I REALLY want the time with just my husband. So, go without them, have a ball and then you'll be refreshed and ready to be mom again!

I can totally relate! I am so looking forward to our 4 day trip to the Mayan Riviera, but I already get sick over the thought of leaving the kids. I also have anxiety attacks bordering on panic disorder. I've already spoken with my doctor about getting a RX for the day we leave.smileys/smiley9.gif I just don't know how I can leave them without mom or dad that long! smileys/smiley19.gif That said, we need and deserve this, and I think we have every right to go and enjoy ourselves, AND SO DO YOU!!!! Go and enjoy the peace as much as you can. I can only imagine that this experience helps us grow as parents.

I voted bring your kids! I too can't imagine being away from mine that long, unless my husband is with them and I get to go somewhere smileys/smiley1.gif

We took a Disney Cruise with the kids last February to the Bahamas. Had a great time and even though cruise lines offer children's programs, ours stayed with us the whole time. We want to go on a 7 day next time, and then they will participate in the kids activities.

By the way, we had two 17 year olds, two 15 year olds, and an 8 and 6 year old with us, and we all had the best time ever!

Debbie, I say go for it....

I know it's hard, but sometimes you really need time away from the kids too. Hubby and I are planning a trip next summer for our 20th anniversary and have already told the kids they won't be going. It will be the first real vacation we've taken without them smileys/smiley5.gif and it's going to be hard... I'm going to miss them like crazy! But I know thathubby and Ineed this time together too.

The kids will be fine! Honest they will!

Good idea Debbie...you will have a fabulous time. I guess if my kids were Dawn's kids ages...I may consider it. With a 41/2 year old and2 year old, it would not be that relaxing of a vacation! You will be a better mom for it! You will come home all refreshed and relaxed!

Have fun...congratulations!

Alex is 5, and wouldn't be so bad, but Billy is 2 and a lot of work. We took him to Jamaica 6 months ago and it was exhausting. When he's a little tamersmileys/smiley2.gif, we'll take both boys.

Debbie --

Next time you might consider bringing a babysitter along (like one of the grandparents). My husband's company goes to Florida every year they meet their sales goals, and almost all of the families bring along someone to watch the kids. My DH had to go alone this year, because I had just had another baby, but it didn't slow him down at all. There were always plenty of people to keep an eye on our daughter.

If his company goes again next year, I think we'll be bringing my mom to keep an eye on the kids. Besides, who could turn down a free trip to Florida??

:)

YAY Debbie!! Good for you! You deserve the time without the boys. It's hard to leave them, but you'll love the feeling of being "excited" to see them again. Plus, Alex will probably appreciate mommy a little more when you get back too. smileys/smiley2.gif. I know my kids always cried when we got back because they missed us so much...but they were complete angels for about a month afterwards! The Bahamas is nice, but not really a great place for kids. Unless you're staying at the Atlantis Resort, lol.

You should rent a "scooter" (really a little mortorcycle) when you're there! It's a blast. But don't forget they drive on the other side of the road, lol.

We're with out kids all day, every day except when they are in school (and that's just the older ones). You and your dh are going to have a BALL on that childless trip!! I'm going without kids and without hubby for 8 days in January on my cruise and I CAN'T WAIT!!! I deserve it! My hubby works 14 and 15 hours a day anyway so I'm the one doing all the child rearing and this is my first vacation anywhere without kiddies and boy do I need it! I wish hubby was coming too but I didn't win his ticket and we can't afford another $1000 plus airfare right here after Christmas so Adios Papa... mama is heading off w/out yasmileys/smiley2.gif We'll share stories when we returnsmileys/smiley4.gif
