Welcome to Wahm. Hopefully you'll find lots of information here that will be of help to you.

My personal opinion is that you should not be paying for a work at home job or for their specialized training. A charge for a background check is one thing, but to take an entire month and charge you $150 for training that you have to give up another job to do seems rather excessive, with no guarantees you will successfully pass.

On the other hand, will you beassured of a high paying job supposing you pass that this will be worthwhile?

Hopefully someone who has worked for awhile at A*ise will be able to tell you if they are happy or not. Check out the other folders here and see if there is an A*ise folder on the list.

Best of luck to you in what you choose to do, and again, welcome to Wahm.

Hi welcome to Wahm :)
I am not versed on Arise so I can't speak for them, but I am a qualified travel agent of 12 years and have taken additional training courses which have incurred a fee.
In British pounds we are talking a similar figure to above.
What is the training course exactly?
I am now doing my own travel business from home, again some test do not require a fee,but some do and you know you are fully qualified and licensed.
But I pay my training fees knowing that this is my business I am building.
I would be wary paying a work at home job that kind of money who stipulate you pay and take this course then pass to be eligible for the job?
Back in my bricks and mortar travel agency days all major training and course were provided by the company with very little charges.
The ones that I took were for personal wants to improve my career.
Never pay for a job,a business you are going into is different you are outlaying some investment at the start for getting a better return down the line.
I hope someone from A*rise will see this and help.

Welcome to Wahm as well!

Kara

I have worked for Arise for 2 years now and they are legit. I can't comment on specific clients in a public forum and do not work the one you mentioned.

Training for a new opportunity (client) does have a fee. Some of this is obviously to offset the cost of training, but some is to make sure that you have an investment from the beginning and don't take applying lightly. Training for many clients is definitely an investment also in time as well, as the client I trained for this past December took approximately 30 hours a week for 4 weeks. I consider very carefully whether I want to apply for a client and then feel very motivated to stick with it, even at the beginning, when it can seem a bit overwhelming working a new client. That investment in money and time definitely is a strong motivation to me why I want to stick with it and make sure I work the client long enough to really decide if it is or isn't for me.

I will add that I wish there was a way we could then as agents get some or all of that money for training back after a period of time working, but right now, I consider it part of the cost of doing business -- since we are independent contractors, not employees.

If you have any questions about Arise or concerns, if you have an email address posted or use AIM or Yahoo Messenger, I'd be happy to chat. smileys/smiley1.gif

And by the way -- Welcome To Arise!

I would edit your original post to exclude the client name as I am sure this is not allowed...

You should edit the company. smileys/smiley18.gif

Good luck and God bless in all that you do! Welcome to the team.smileys/smiley27.gif

Edited to add: There is an Arise board on WPLH. Have you checked it out? You'll get many objective POVs from people very familiar with this company. Most here don't know much about it and will scream SCAM because at first glance it can look like that. smileys/smiley36.gif

Sorry Guys,
I am not that savvy about posting messages and such. Didn't know anything about editing a name. If somebody can help me remove my message that would be great! Thanks! And thanks for the helpful replys. I actually have a better understanding about the company I was inquiring about. Thanks!
