Has anyone hosted their own business opportunity meeting? And I don't mean as part of a party. I'm talking about a stand-alone business opportunity meeting held at a hotel, convention center, community center, whatever.
How have you done it? Who do you invite? How do you get people invited? What kind of attendance have you had?
I'm curious as I'm looking for ways to step up my recruiting efforts.

I can't remember exactly but I think I read that you can only do them at AM level or higher. I am off to work, can anyone clarify?

OOOh, that would be really important to know for sure.
I'm doing a fundraising event this weekend. It's basically a holiday bazaar at a local high school. I've got the usual cash and carry items but I was hoping to use the event to get leads and/or potential business builders. Any ideas that have worked well?

Have a basket or something that you are "raffling" off. Make up a bunch of registration slips (there used to be some templates in the files here, not sure if they are still there or not) and have anyone who wants to be eligible for the drawing fill one out. Draw a winner & notify them, also call everyone else & let them know that even though they did not win the prize offered at your booth, they do qualify for a spaor facial night for them & 5 friends and ask when they would like to schedule it.
I got this from another consultant, I'm sure others have great ideas too!

Unless you are comfortable explaining the business, I would
have someone on my upline do it. There will be nothing worse
than doing it alone and have someone ask questions you
cannot answer.
In my area, we have several meetings going on throughout the
week. They are usually led by an AM or an RVP. We bring
prospects who may have tried the products or the RE9 set. We
don't have a raffle, but under the circumstances of where you
are doing your little "show", that is a great idea. You want
anyone who stops to your table to sign up (name, address,
phone, email).
So, in my experience the Arbonne Opportunity meetings are
very small where we discuss Arbonne from the business
aspect. Hope this helps.

I know several people who hold business meetings in their homes. They invite 5-6 people & get a committment - saying I only have room for 5 and I counting you in for 2, so please call me if you can't make it! Then it is strictly a biz meeting, outlining the business. My RVP does it with them. They say it doesn't work as well with more people, not sure why. They've been very successful with this approach - they do the lets go shopping presentation. I want to do this, haven't yet!

My husband and I are planning to start business opportunities this month. We spoke with our RVP about it and she was very supportive.
We won't have any upline with us, becasue we were sponsored from someone out of state, but she encourage us to go for it, and is sending us some scripts, etc. to help us develop our presentation
I am a DM and he is 1st step DM. She didn't tell us we needed to be to AM before we started doing these. We are planning to do 1 a month, and once were more comfortable, bump it up to 2. We want His 'n Her's mercedes by next summer! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I'm curious as to how you source leads and get the invitees to your meetings. I'm definitely going to solicit names from my fundraiser this weekend but I want to think about other avenues that may not have been mentioned in the posts above.
I'm excitied to get a few presentations going. And like Meg and her husband, my upline is not local (the nearest person in my upline is 2+ hours away) so I don't get much local support. But that's ok. After the birth of my daughter last year, I kissed my 15+ year corporate career goodbye and embarked on Arbonne so I'll do whatever it takes to get my Mercedes in my driveway next yearsmileys/smiley1.gif
