View Full Version : Help with vendor opportunity....

I just found out about a vendor opportunity for Sunday..... The marching band is having a fundraiser atour school on Sunday afternoon by having direct sales businesses set up tables and then donate a percentage of their profits to the band....

This is all fine and dandy, but I didn't have enough time to buy anything for cash and carry! So all I'll have is my regular samples.... and I don't really want to sell them because then I won't have anything to show anyone else that stops at the table.....

So, if I just take orders, do you think it will still go well?

What can I do to get orders????

Hey Bev,

Do you have any stock on hand at all? What about another consultant in the area that you could purchase her stock from her on the spot? I think you know that having products on hand to purchase right then and there is better than having to place orders.

However, if that is not an option, make sure you have a lot of catalogs! If the proceeds are going to a good cause, maybe offer a special for orders placed that day (buy three, get one free, for example) to entice people to place the orders...talk up the products, emphasize if they make good gifts (since the holidays are approaching!) and maybe do a raffle or something for a gift basket, or a free gift, or whatever based on those who place orders.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

Make up some gift certificates and SELL them. Include a catalog. People
can purchase a set amount and you can write it on the certificates.
Make sure you note on both the reciept AND the certificate the order
number so you don't get confused later on.

To encourage sales:

I would get some cute little gift bags you can slide the certificates
and the catalog into and hand to them for "gift giving" and then the
recipient can call you after they get their gift and order what they
want from you. Maybe you could offer "free shipping" over a certain
amount to encourage purchasing. You might want to get some small boxes
you can "gift wrap" for them and put the certificates inside "today
only...free gift wrapping" etc. Or find a paper store and get some
plain paper bags and decorate them festively. I am always much more
willing to get a gift certificate if there is a way to make it look
more like a 'regular gift'. With people purchasing to help the school
band, they will probably be in the "spending" mode so offer some way of
making it REALLY easy for them to buy what you can offer.

Then you won't have to sell anything you have on hand, the customers
will pay for the gift right there, and then you just wait until the
person that got the certificate calls and orders and have it shipped to
them!

Hope this helps

OH...another thing that works well...

Offer entry into a drawing for a high demand product to everyone who
purchases more than "________" of product. So like "One prize drawing
entry for every $20.00 in product purchased" or "Orders over $50.00
include entry in drawing for........."

People love it when they MIGHT get something for free.
