but I really can't believe the number of spelling mistakes, typos, examples of bad grammer, etc that I see on this forum.

We are professional writers who sell the written wordto people. Not unlike a novel or any other kind of published work.

I certainly understand that this is just a forum and not the professional letters we mail to our customers, but almost all of us have signatures promoting our Santa Letter sites which means we are hoping to gain some customers from this forum.

I also realize that many of us post when we are frustrated, worried, tired, angry and going through moods of all kinds. So spelling and grammer may not be a priority. smileys/smiley2.gif But I recommend you always post in a manner that shows the quality of work your customers will receive.

Just a suggestion ladies. smileys/smiley4.gifsmileys/smiley4.gif

Again, I hope I don't offend anyone.

I totally agree with you. I've always wondered if those who do not watch their spelling or their grammarever use the spell check. I usually use mine just to be safe.
And I don't find it offensive because it is in our best interest and in the best interest of future clients that our posts be well written.

Thanks for the constructive criticism.http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

Thanks for the heads up for the constructive criticism as well...........but in other WAHM's defense..........I would like to think this site is used not only for very well needed advice, tried, true and tested tips but also as a vent, let loose and let go ......."let me get it out" forum as well, so some of us mom's don't bother to use spell check or to be in decorum as well as we may do on our real jobs. Now.....before you get all uptight........Ido agree if you are asking forbusiness advice......it would be business-like to ask for what you want with good english skills, so I do agree with you in that sense but in the same sense, this is supposed to be a site that you can find out good business advice and useit as a LEARNING tool........some WAHM's are really learning about plain business language....etc....and may NOT word it correctly but is actually learning from their mistakes soley by this site ........so what....some of the wording is out of actual venting and just "plain ole' letting go" ........this is a site to allow us to feel comfortable with other WAHM's without being the work horse or work machine that we are everyday in order to be successful........so we probably won't use the spell check or even think with our right minds .....after a 15 hour or so workday........or whatever the case may be.........some of us may work for more than 16 hours a day and just looking to chat, talk or vent with others like us and NOT BE JUDGED...........so ...........give us a break..........it's a forum ..........not a test.........
anyway.............no offense.............just my opinion.

Totally agree with you there. I usually only have a few seconds here and there to post and visit. I don't really notice if other moms misspell words here or not and it does not bother me if they do. If I received marketing material with errors I might take concern but not here.... like mis4ta said it is a forum, not a test...

That is my opinion .... no offense

i second that. I am usually typing and watching my daughter at the same time. I do not really pay attention as much as i do when i send out material

Just my 2 cents

I know this thread is old but I'm new here so... To the original poster: you spelled the word grammar wrong. It's grammar not grammer. I usually don't care about these things but since you brought it up...

Oh my goodness this was so funny reading the posts with corrections and then mistakes in spelling and grammar. It is easy to make mistakes. It seems when you proof read somebody else you find mistakes and not so in your own writing.

Thanks Cardinal! I did not know that......which takes me back to what I posted earlier.......some of us use this sight to open our minds up to learn and not judge.

Thanks for that! I learned something new today. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif

Hi,

I'm new, so I just found this thread. Grammar/spelling errors don't bother me on forums, but on an actual business website, that's different. I saw on a Letters From Santa website a consistent mis-spelling of the word "stationery". It is spelled stationEry. It's a very common error, but a website that sells stationery really ought to learn how to spell the word.

Sorry I am new here, but seriously ALLSCENTS how could the spelling mistakes, etc bother you? Most of us on here probably have a child in one hand and cooking with the other, HAHA..I am lucky if I get 2 free minutes to hop on the computer and post quickly.

Could it be that with text messaging on cellphones has taken to much of the thinking out of actual spelling?
