I just bought my business and received my products last week. I purchased the RE9 set and love it, but I have some serious questions about information presented at the party I attended. The upline of my upline (who is herself a newbie) presented the party and she used the line about Arbonne being completely natural and how other makeup products used glycerine which comes from rendering plants and "road kill." She also made some medical claims about the PhytoProlief getting rid of fibroid cysts in the breast and helping men with prostate problems. I think we need to be VERY careful about making medical claims like this... I did go ahead and sign up to become a consultant because I have had my own line of organic soaps, lotions, etc. for a number of years and I liked what I read in the materials I was given. I just DIDN'T like the sales pitch. I think making medical claims such as this could get us into serious trouble, couldn't it?

We had a training retreat this w/e & were discouraged from using those statements! Yes, we do need to be careful. We aren't doc's. We can use testimonies, etc. I know I did use mineral oil for many years - yuk! I would just encourage people to be aware of what they are putting on their face & leave it at that.

This is definately something we need to keep in mind. If we think a product may help a client with a medical condition, we should recommend they speak to their doctor first and/or provide them testimonials.

I think most people at parties know that we are all not doctors! For us to make such claims just makes us look silly. I am a stay at home mom and they know that. Definetly keep it to personal testimonies and leave the "use the hormone cream and you'll be pregnant tomorrow" for the infomercials.smileys/smiley2.gif

Both of these things you heard at your party are actuallytrue. Theamazingfacts aboutabout PhytoProlief, and the part about most american skin care companies using by-products from rendering plants which include road killwas on the news, not sponsered by Arbonne. That news clip used to be usedon an Arbonne DVD, but we are no longer allowed to use it because of some out of date info. She was probably just quoting the news cast, since she was not allowed to show it to you. She wasn't lying however.

P.S. The part about 100% natural isn't true however. we do believe in the use of technologyin order to offer the mostadvanced skin care possible.

Gail, this is why we aren't supposed to use scripts unless they are approved by Arbonne. It's so hard to control every consultant out there & what they say...it's like trying to herd cats!

According to my NVP, there are quite a few things we aren't "allowed" to say according to home office. We aren't supposed to talk about other companies specifically. And we really aren't supposed to get too far into what goes into "most" other companies. I read something from my NVP a few months ago that Stian said we aren't supposed to talk about rendering plants & whatnot.

We also def are not supposed to make medical claims. None of us are experts in medicine. (Ok, except those consultants who really are doctors, lol) And we can't diagnose people's illness nor prescribe things for them. Our creams are not pharmacy grade either, otherwise you'd have to have a prescription for them. Now, we can talk about various symptoms that the creams have shown to help, give testimonials like others have already mentioned. And we can suggest things for them to try that "might" help. But we need to always recommend that they talk to their Dr. first.

I don't think any consultants say this stuff with ill intent. .
