Can someone explain to me how it's possible that wholesale accounts are supposed to be the bread & butter of your business? Other than getting the BB info in front of people, I mean. I just can't understand how you could end up making more money off wholesale than retail... Am I missing something? Does something radically change numbers-wise once you move up, or are the wholesale accts pushed in the hopes of getting more BBs.

Wholesale accounts are the bread & butter? Where did this info come from?
Commission increases from 4% to 8% when a consultant moves up to DM status. But the best way to move up in management is by moving productthrough retail sales.

see, it's not just me then right? smileys/smiley36.gif it's something that i've heard said at national meetings, and various other conversations (not directly from Arbonne). but i could never see how it was true... it seems like everyone i've talked to pushes the wholesale accounts at their parties, but i've gotten away from that since i made the most money in retail.

Christen,
It really depends whose team you're on. Some teams still push retail. The problem with retail, although the % is higher, is that they are not as likely to reorder if they haven't purchased a card. Residual income is so much better in the long run. After all, we're not only shooting for pomotions, but we have to maintain them. Of couse, we are after BBs too, and so it is our goal to get people signed up and to stratigically place them where it will benefit us and those under us.

Why have a wholesale price "and" a retail price, if one is
just going to present one and use it?

If you didn't have a retail price, the wholesale price wouldn't look like a savings. There's certainly nothing wrong with selling at the retail price, it's just not the way my team does it.

I guess it's just been my experience so far that people don't want to be bothered by ordering stuff themselves. Even my wholesale clients still ask me to place their orders for them, and that's why I'm not really pushing the accounts anymore. It just gets too hairy, and doesn't seem worth it to me. But it seems like other people have had the opposite experience... hmm. It probably depends on what "kind" of people you do business with. Some people (like me) prefer doing their own browsing & ordering, but some others want a go-to person... at least we have the option of doing it both ways...smileys/smiley1.gif

And I suppose saving money is the name of the game.
Nothing wrong with that.
However, I like making money. :-)

Gosh I have ton of wholesale clinets and only one doesn't order for yourself. She doesn't have a computer. smileys/smiley1.gifThe others always do. I still call them and check in because they are a clinet. Maybe that is why then remember to reorder.. I have several who always order the same things ever couple of months.. I know when they are running out I see they ordered.. but I try to stay in contact. Plus when they first sign with the discount they always add more since they are saving and get to try more products. A lot of times they go for the specials and try new things and then add them to their reg. use. I do have a lot of Retail clinets too. That is fine nothing wrong with the 35% but residual is the key to the money. Many of my wholesale consultants tell their friends (because the friends have noticed a difference) and I sign those friends up under them.. they get the check for 4% and I have had a couple come later and say now why am I getting money for using the products.. I explain again (which I do before I sign them under that person) and a lot of times they tell a couple more friends..
Everyone is different you have to ask questions and find what works for them. Just like skin types are different.

I also like helping people and doing what is right.
Arbonne appears to be the right method.

I have been struggling with this as well. I do not find that most wb become bb, in fact, I have found just the opposite. Most people will sign up then fizzle out because they can't be bothered.
Here is my take on this situation. I want money now and later also. I also know that if I want a strong team I need to really focus on business builders, whether they are p/t or f/t. This way I make money now (on the retail) and money later on a solid bb team.
Wholesale buyers, IMO, will fizzle out. Now I know you will say that many vps were wholesale buyers. Well if you work closely with your customers you will still be able to recognize those who may be interested. Do interviews and share info one on one.
I am not going to offer wholesale at my shows either. I will make the wholesale buyers available to my hostesses. Therefore, if a guest books a show than I will explain to her the wb option.
I understand that people want to grow their teams deep and wide which you should but you want solid legs for your team to stand on.
Hope this makes sense
Denise :)
