Have any of you had parties on Black Friday before? Did you find that they were successful?

Maybe an open house would work well on that day, where people could stop in on their way to other shopping. I think a party itself would be hard on that day. Depends on your area and the people invited tho!!

I haven't had a show but I have done a 'reorder' special and have done tremendously well.

I told the customer to email or call an order during that weekend to get an extra gift or a % off depending if it was Fri/Sat/ or Sun.

It works!

I just wanted to go shopping myself:)

I've done a one-day sale on Black Friday. It was a 'call-only' sale from 8am-8pm. It was so great to be getting calls all day while I was out shopping...so I knew I was making money just as fast as I was spending it...LOL!!

Ooh! That is a neat idea. I might just try that. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
Thing is I currently have two women who want to host jointly looking at dates and one of the dates thatthey threw out is Black Friday. So do you ladies think I should be stearingthem away from it?

Thanks!

Personally, from my experience, most people are spending that time with family.
I would be very surprised if the show has either a) a lot of guests to support it
or b) if it doesn't get rescheduled.

I personally, would steer away from that because although it may be good for the people hosting, a lot of people travel that weekend or have 'after Thanksgiving traditions'.

I typically don't have any home shows from Tuesday through Thanksgiving Sunday. In the past, they always rescheduled so I have just decided to always just make that family time for me.

Ahhh, I've done the same thing with much success. It helps if you have a large mailing list to blast it out to.

I will be participating in a Consultant Open House on Saturday of that weekend. This group has done a few other open houses like this and they advertise well, although this is the first time it will be on a big weekend like this. I'm hoping we will attract some Holiday shoppers!

I also have the opportunity to do a vendor event on the Saturday that weekend. I'm wondering if it is going to be worth it. It is at a hotel (golf resort) and the hotel is fully booked for the weekend. I'm still trying to decide if I want to do it.

As far as Friday, if you could get word to the guests of all the deals you will be offering you might get people to stop in. I think the die hard shoppers on that day plan their day ahead of time.

My family stays up way too late on Thanksgiving to be getting up and out at the crack of dawn for shopping. :) But I know it is a tradition for some people.

I have to tell you most people who like to shop on Good Friday are exhausted by the end of it. I usually steer far away from Craft Shows or Vendor shows that weekend. With that being said offering a promotion before the Holiday is great. I always offer to people that they can get kits for the kids to stuff after Thanksgiving dinner as a fun activity.

As far as the party that they want to do it depends if there friends are the type that go out shopping that day. If their not than you might be ok with attendance. Personally I would try for the following weekend.

I love Rebecca's re-order special !!! Great idea! I can remember my Avon lady years ago offering a phone-a-thon special.

Call between xx and xx time, get 10% off
Call between xx and xx time, get 15% off, etc.

I was thinking of offering this in my customers' party orders. Slip in a little coupon for maybe 10-14 days from the party when it's time to re-order more candles.

I'll definitely try it out..........thanks for reminding me of a GREAT idea!! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
