No problem! It's not the same thing, but you don't need that either with direct sales : )

Actually, you will want to check your local area/county for the answer. Will you need to collect tax on the products you sell? If so, you may need a biz license to apply for a sales tax number.

Unless the company submits the sales tax for her. Which lia sophia does do that for us. I don't think she has anything to worry about.

It depends on the company. Most take care of it, but a few of them, especially newer ones, do require you to have one.

I know with my company DT takes care of everything, which is nice.

You will also need to consider your decision to run the business under your name (easier) or under a business name. That is something else that varies by state/locality. I would check with your local town/county, as Angie suggested,to be sure. smileys/smiley2.gif

You definitely need to check with your city/county. I didn't need a license before. Then I moved, and my new city requires it, even though my business is direct sales.

This is a very confusing issue, because normally none of us would need a business license, but I have heard of some counties within some state that, no matter what, require anyone doing business of any kind in the area to have a license. Although, I doubt they really go out and patrol in-home partiessmileys/smiley36.gif.

Doesn't hurt to ask, or at least check with your local chamber of commerce, and explain how the company already holds the license, processes payments, taxes, etc., and just see what they have to say about it.

Actually, I got a letter from the city asking about my business license becauseI claimed my business on my annual income taxes. Apparently the IRS and my city talk. Luckily, it wasn't a big deal, but just make sure you know if you need it or not.
