A few months ago I was searching for a jewelry direct sales company. I met a lady with a particular company. She was very nice and helpful. I even went to her house when she had a unit meeting/barbque. We talked almost everyday in trying to figure out ways to get my kit. I had stuff on ebay trying to get the money together for the kit.
Anyway it just was not working out for me so I mailed her back her catalogs, jewelry and other stuff she gave me and I wrote her a letter and told her I could not do the business at this time because I could not afford the start up cost. (Now that I had time to think about it It might have been better ifI called her and told her)
A few weeks later I find LBD where it was only 35 dollars so of course I jump at the opprotunity. I posted about my new business adventure on a message board we are both members of...not this one.
A day or so later I recieve a email from her calling me sneaky and if I was interested in another company I could have told her......uh duh I sent all your info back.
I emailed her back and explained my side of the story, that I could not afford the start up cost etc. She emails be back that her and the ladies that were at the unit meeting/ barbque thought I was spying...WHAT!!
Spying? There is not a direct sales company in the world that I would go to someone houseto spy on.
Well long story short I was thinking of signing up with the company again. I was thinking ofrepresenting both companies. I feel each company appeals to different people.
Now I can't sign up under her with her calling me sneaky and accusing me of spying.
I have been in direct sales a few years now and spending time with a possible recuit that might change their mind comes with the terriority.
I have spent weeks with a possible recuit and they decided to go with another company that fits better with them at that time. Did I freak out?
No. Of course I was a little upset but they would never had known it. I told them good luck with your business and ifthey ever decided on my company in the future I will be there for them. That's how you do it. You don't leave a bad taste in someones mouth. They might decided to sign up later on, especially if it does not work out with that company.
What do you ladies think?

I think it was unprofessional of her- and good for you for finding something you love!
I think you should sign up for the other company if it still appeals to you(under a different advisor) and do so well you win awards..and she what she thinks of you then..lolhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif(okay..that is thenaughty side of me...ignore that! lol)
Best of luck in your new endeavor!!

I think it was very unprofessional on her part, another thing you sent everything back to her so I dont think that you did anything that was wrong. You do what you think is best and find another advisor if thats what you want to do!

I agree with every one else. She was not very professional. You were fortunate to find a great company you can feel passionate about.
I do on the other hand want to mention you may need to check your LBD agreement/contract and the agreement/contract for the other company you are thinking of joining. They many not allow you to sign with another direct sales jewelry company. It would probably be considered a conflict of interest.
I hope it all works out for you.

Wow! See - I would have been thrilled that you cared enough to send back the materials. That shows that you are respectful and understanding - not that you are a spy. If you were "spying"you certainly would have kept the materials too. What a quack!! The world really does take all kinds. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
Be careful about trying to join to jewelry companies at once because even if LBD doesn't have a no competition rule, the other company might. I know ours does - we can sell any other DS product except jewelry.
Keep rocking your new biz!

Thanks ladies for your replies.
I do really need to focus on myLBD business. I am stretched to thin as it is with night school and taking my son to tae kwon do, tutoring and hip hop dance classes. I must be insane to think I could put more stuff on my plate.

I have had this happen to me before and all I can say about those kind of people is "good luck" because they will not go very far in the DS business acting like that!
Best wishes to you in your business!

I think it was very courteous of you to inform her you couldn't do it and to send her materials back. A lot of people would've just never contacted her again and kept the material. You were verynice & professional and she was not. Best of luck in your new biz!
