Well some places have certain rules.. like this WAHM.com website, you can only have 1 post on the front page and you must put your business initals in the subject.

For me, My thing is that I make sure ive only got 1 post on the front page of a message board folder. Unless of course its a huge long list of posts and you have to scroll waaaay down to see mine. But for the most part I just use my own judgement.. I think spamming turns people off to your business.. so I try to keep one message on the front page..

Definately check the individual board rules where you want to post. Some forums do not allow any advertising at all on them (for example, here at WAHM ads are only allowed on ONE of the many forums here).

As far as unwritten etiquette --

I would say to try to contribute as a member of the forum before you start advertising. This means try to post and answer others questions for a short time before you put an ad out. Then you become a real person and notjust someone trying to sell something.

Hope that helps.
