I don't know if any of you have read this in the telecomuting folder, but brainbench is offering free certification tests in different areas including web design and programming.

I actually certified for the html one. In fact, they have banners that announce your certification that you can download and put on your web pages.

Well, just letting you know.

(hopefully a web designer one day soon - although still having trouble finding that first client)

Congratulations on your certification :) Have you searched through freelance websites to place bids?

I have browsed, but I am still a little unsure about myself I guess. I need to find a way to word things in a positive way that won't give anyone the impression because I am not able to do any of the back end programming yet.

I guess I need to get over it though.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Misty

Find clients that just need designing, and if they need both design and programming, subcontract your work by finding someone on this board or elsewhere that have decent skills in that field.

Look around at those sites and see what is offered out there...it will give you a good idea, and I am sure I can reference some programmers for you.

Keep faith...it is a big hurdle to overcome at first...but then you will be so glad you did it in the end.

That is great advice. I have seen some programmers on this board. I haven't seen any jobs needing just design work as of yet, but I haven't looked to hard either.

I was hoping to learn how to do some server side programming but I found out that Microsoft xp home edition does not contain one, and I could use apache, but for now I think I am going to stick with the design stuff.

Thanks,

Misty
