I'm not sure how I feel about the whole invitation thing. To me it
seems like a hassle, especially for the hostess. Of course I could send
the invites myself, but before I go and order a bunch I would like some
feedback.

Do you all typically send out invites? Or have the hostess phone the guests?

There are some cute spa invitations but I dont know how practical they are.

Oh and I'm new to this board. I've been with BC for years but only to
purchase products for myself. I'm just now getting in to the business
side of it.

I'm glad I found this board. Lots of good info here.

Thanks ladies!

fr8skin,
Welcome to the board http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley14.gif!!! We are happy to have you. These ladies are wonderful and very supportive.

I mail all the invitations for my hostesses. I also have her follow up with a "save the date" email to her guests.Seems there is greater success mailing invites. I do not have a large inventory of invites. If I need them, I order and they ship pretty quickly.

Just remember, this is your business. You can try having the hostess call all the guests and see the kind of response you get. Just play with it until you find what works best for you.

Best of luck!!!!

I used to leave it up to the hostess to invite her friends. Now I send out the invites myself and have the hostess do the follow up calls. My spas are much more successful since I've started doing this. I don't use the postcard invites either....I've created my own and they explain what a spa escape is. In my area, BC is not well known (I've been with Bc over 11 years and it's still not well known here!), so I feel that by explaining what they will be doing on the invitation, I answer alot of questions and I'm getting a better response.

I like the idea of sending the invites myself.....why leave it up to the hostess, and hope she has time, or remembers to do it? Spas are MY job and if I want to work that night, I'd better make sure I have an audience. for that reason,it's worth my time and effort. I keep it simple, and do it myself.

I agree with the other poster...try a few different ideas and come up with something that works for you.

I get better results when I send out my own invites. If you do a hostess coaching beforehand you can ask her to bring the postage when you meet and she gives you her guest list.

The last 4 spas I've done, I've actually made up e-vites on evite.com.
The hostesses just give me the list of email addresses. I ask them tosend out a pre-invite to give the ladies a heads up that they will be receiving an invitation from me - that way they don't delete it because they didn't recognize my name!

It's so easy to track who is coming. It's also neat to see the comments that they write about how excited they are, etc.

The evite system automatically sends them a reminder notice 2 days prior. This takes also takes the stress off of the hostess because she doesn't have to call everyone to confirm.

Just another option for you!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

Thanks for the ideas. I'm definitely going to check in to the e-invites.

So the hostess should pay the postage for the invites?

Just visiting from another board, but was intrigued by the topic...

Thank you for those words. This is the perfect explaination to give new reps!

As for the postage thing, I never questioned the fact that I had to pay the postage. With our company, it is our gift to the hostess butI know you guys give your hostesses a lot of gifts. However, I will tell you this... I was at a Pampered Chef show one night and during her booking blurb, the rep said she mailed the invites for her hostess, but the hostess either needed to give her the stamps or the money for postage. Several guests made faces at this comment.

Even if you send out 30 invites, you are only spending $12 on postage. Really a small price to pay to guarantee you have a show!

Just to clarify...
When I use the evite system, there is no cost involved. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

When I send out the postcards, I pay the postage.

Hello Ladies!

Since this is what I specialize in I have to put in my two cents.....I think both postcard invites and e-vites should be used...not one or the other....
I think the hand written invitations show the care put into your presentation...it's that personal touch that makes someone feel like you really want them to come...e-vites could be dismissed very easily and also not personal at all.. almost a lazy way to request somebody's presence...however they are budget friendly and some designs are darling and the ease of it is wonderful on both ends. Use both -- variety is never dull.

I also believe in the actual impression of the design that comes in the mail...the invitation tells your guest what's in store for them so if the invite has colorful flair and original style so must your collection and those rsvp's calls increase because of the kind of impression you sent via mail...
If the invites has dull art -- it looks automatically like junk mail and often never even read!

I'm not trying to sell you on buying my products ladies....I hope you all know that by now but I really believe it whole hearted.

Sincerely,
Denise
