I just read an excellent explanation of how paraffin wax treatment works, from a spa in a community where I own land.
I have always wondered so here it is -
The paraffin wax treatment is ideal for aging skin or naturally dry skin or complexions dehydrated by the environment. In this treatment the liquid paraffin is applied. As the wax hardens, it creates a vacuum effect, preventing moisture from escaping and thereby forcing it back into the skin's surface. As a result, the top cell layer plumps up, reducing dryness and superficial lines. In addition, the warmth of the mask relaxes the skin, opens the pores and enhances moisturizer penetration.
Wasn't t that easy to understand. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif
