I'm just about to build my first-ever website, and I wanted to try things out with a free webhost... at least to start with... Any recommndations on the best free webhost? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The following recommendations are not for free, as I never would opt for free webhosting...too many pop-ups, etc.
I use www.behosting.com (http://www.behosting.com/) which is a hosting company run by WAHMs...very affordable for starting out, and the offer a lot of incentive for what you pay.
Check out Digimom...Kathie also provides hosting with her web design company, and her rates look pretty awesome. I may switch over to her after the month is up.
You can look her up in the search on this board or scan through the posts in the web design section to find her.
Good luck, and send us a link to check it out when it is live :)</TD></TR></T></TABLE></TD></TR></T></TABLE>

I have to agree with ktmkgraphics, I don't recommend a free hosting provider. That is because there are some very affordable hosting options that will be much more reliable and give you much better results.
I recommend www.easywebsitetoday.com (http://www.easywebsitetoday.com) for anyone on a tightbudget. Very affordable website builder & hosting options, plus no setup fees.
Best wishes,
Teresa

I provide web hosting, too ... affordable, but not free, sorry! I keep my prices very low so that WAHM/D's can afford hosting, even on a tight budget.

I also provide webhosting, and it's under $8 per month...a free domain name is included too! 30day money back guarantee, web stats, 100 email, control panel, 24x7 support, the list goes on :)

I started out with a free webhost and the best is etechplace.com they do not have pop ups and they have a lot of space and are very reliable. I know a lot of people do not like free hosts however etechplace.com was a good starting point for my business. Not to mention that I used www.freedomain.co.nr (http://www.freedomain.co.nr)for afree short domain name. It worked for a while. I had a hard time finding the perfectpaid host, which I did, however while searching this was a great option. Good luck.
