Hi Everyone:
I am going to particapate in a fair at the end of the month. Since The Body Shop At Home collects the sales tax I do not need a sales tax number. However the fair I'm in requires you to have a state sales tax number. Would The Body Shop At Home supply me with one or do I need to get a seperate one.
Thanks

In Ohio we can use our Social Security Number. Can you use that? If not, I suggest you call your home office to see what should be done.

Years ago in FL when I did PC we did fairs and we called our home office and they faxed some paperwork over with sales tax info and insurance info...I'd call your home office first!
Good Luck! I have not had the chance to do a fair or event yet with my new biz - but I LOVE them - have always had LOTS of success and met tons of people!!! Let us know how you do! Best Wishes!!

So here is the story. I do not need a sales tax number because I am not selling anything. I am there to either recurite people to be a Body Shop At Home Consultant of to get GNO's. But my question is would it be selling if people placed orders? I have a feeling I'm going to have to call my home office once more.

You would have to charge tax irregardless of if you sold a physical product, or the intention to buy (order) a physical product. The HO should be the one who needs to submit the necessary info since you yourself are not responsible for submitting your sales tax. Make sense? http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Actually, Theresa, you are not technically allowed to sell products (or take orders) at these events. I'm sure when you talk to home office, they will let you know. Good luck and I hope you get TONS of GNO's booked!!! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

I was not planning on selling our products at the fair, but was uncertain if I could take orders. What do I tell a person if they want to place an order? Sorry but I'm not allowed you have to host a GNO in order to get products. I don't know how well that would come across
