Some people say they have recruiting and booking success from craigslist. Has anyone here done it? How did it go for you?

I have offered free chemical peel and microderm treatments. Had one call. Other things I put on craigslist were deleted because I was offering a buisness that required them to pay money to join. It is a sticky place to play but it is worth a try! I would do it again!

I had one booking from which I got a recruit, and another girl coming over to possibly sign up. This is from a BAZILLION postings!!! It's definitely a numbers game. Oh yeah, I have had several other bookings from it that have canceled at the very last minute, never to hear from them again.

I just post for my services, and then go from there when they contact me.

Craigslist is an online classified for EVERYTHING. Go to www.craigslist.com and choose your local city. You can post just about anything you want. I use it for BC all the time and have great success. I haven't recruited, but I've booked spas from it. :-)

cbills & Ronjess21 ~ Where do you post and what do you say? I haven't had the same luck! Maybe I am doing it wrong. I think I had a couple of my postings removed because someone else was JEALOUS!

Thanks, I appreciate your help! I would love to try Craigslist again! Especially with the holidays coming!

Removed?! They can't remove you unless you break one of Craigslist's rules. I post under "Service" then "Beauty" You can't use your website on there (that's a rule breaker). I normally post about Spa Parties and I go into detail what I do (so there is no confusion), and the benefits hostess get. I also post things like Free Checmical Peel, and if they have a party of 6 or more, I'll give incentives. It'sl ike bait on a hook that gets me my fish. :-) People like free stuff. I also started adding in my post that there is no catch because for a while after posting for free spas and free products the first thing I get in an e mail is "Okay, what's the catch?" Or the one I hate most is "Is this like Mary Kay?" I answer all the questions at the end of my post before they can ask it! lol...

Do you have one of those postings up now that we could read? (Or copy and paste into our own city? http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)

Sorry for the delay in responding. Went to NYC with my hubby for the weekend. You can see my postings on Craigslist. One of my post number is 411345545 . I think you can look it up by the number. Let me know. :-) That post has generated me 3 bookings. Two were made after they came for their one on one. I told them they'd get more having a party. they were thrilled. :-)

There is also another online classified site you can use.

www.kijiji.com (http://www.kijiji.com)for United States

www.kijiji.ca (http://www.kijiji.ca) for Canada

Ronjess,
Your very welcome and thank you for sharing craiglist. Are you placing the same ad regarding MDA on kijiji? Where are you posting them all. I place mine under services-other.

Trying to come up with new ads to place on both sites. I welcome any suggestions you may have.

Thanks,
Laurie

when you post do you put free microderm in the subject line? I am going t post to craigslist today and try the other also. Ispent half a day yesterday trying to get a booking, or spa works no sucess, hope this works.
thanks for all the great help

Ronjess21
09-05-2007, 04:02 AM
I placed mine under services-Beauty/health on both sites. As for the subject line, I try and find creative ways to grab the attention of others. You know people scan through the title before reading the post... So I'll say things like Free Microderm Abraision, or Go to the Spa every night, An Hour of Ohh, Ahhh, and stuff like that. :-)

As a deaf woman, I count on the internet to get my people. I'm not really good at talking to people, so the internet such as Craigslist and others get my people hooked, then I deal with communicating in person. God bless the internet! lol

sorry so many questions, when you say you will give the group a sample of the microderm do you do just the hostess face, or everyone who comes? And which masque do you use? Iwasn't sure if you could do the LOS masque and then do microderm, but I saw where Gary said he did he spa masque before microderm...just checking..I am so excited, I can't say thanks enough to all you guys

Ronjess21
09-05-2007, 04:23 AM
What I do is give the hostess the choice of a microderm abrasion for her face or the mask. Everyone else gets the LOS mask. I had one hostess ask if she could get half of her face with the mask and the other with the microderm abrasion... she loved it both she bought them both. lol

I would offer the MDA to all guests, some ladies prefer you demonstrate on 1/2 their face in order for them to see/feel the difference, or on the back of one hand.

You could apply the spa masque Gary mentioned in his blog. I can't wait to try this product. MDA is my ultimate favourite, so of course I love demonstrating it on everyone. Another mask to try is LOS or after MDA I have applied the ozone therapy masque. Try a few masque's on yourself and then decide, or apply a different one for each gal.

Another idea is todemonstrate the chemical peel on the bank of their hand, and suggest they alternate MDA & chemical peel everv 2nd or 3rd day.

Personally I use both every 2nd day and the results are amazing.

You could also try http://www.backpage.com . How about MySpace? Has anyone used that and had success?

I have had questions on myspace from people but no actual spas yet. I did get two buisness'. I am doing a tanning salon grand opening & a bar ~ male review night so all ladies are over 21 and hopefully have a credit card!

Another two sites similar to myspace are

moli.com

friendster.com

Both are ones you make friends. Moli was for networking buisness' but others used it to socialize so they have both now. I have had more questions from that one. Friendster, I created a site but nothing! And I mean NOTHING has come from that one.

I posted two craigslist ads.... received two hits off there in the last three days.

kathybspa
09-05-2007, 10:01 AM
how do you know if you got hits off of the craiglist? do they email and tell you, or is there a way you can check on craigslist??

Live the Dream
09-05-2007, 10:04 AM
No, you can't check... they reply and ask questions. I don't give my number. I ask for theirs and I call them. That way I don't get perv's.

live the dream -- what are you going to do for the businesses? How did you approach them on that?

Live the Dream
09-05-2007, 01:10 PM
I am doing hands, feet, and lips. One approached me on myspace and I approached the other. I figure I will bring a basin and water for SOH and do Extreme Hand Repair. Anyone purchasing those two as a set save $5. I will bring 3 types of foot cremes and they can start with the lips and soften them up while they are doing the other things.

Wow, I posted a few ads on craigslist and I have had 3 contacts in the last 2 days concerning my ads for free chemical peels and free spa escapes. I have talked on the phone with oneperson and she scheduled a spa escape for her and her freinds for next weekend! I am hoping the other 2 schedule treatments and/or spas also! I will keep you posted on the results and I would love to hear others experiences also. Edited by: spa-me-2

Mine seem to stay up on Craiglist. The first one I ever put on there was taken off. But I think it was because another consultant was also listing on there and didn't want the competition and and think she had it removed by complaining. So look at what is being posted as there may be another consultant posting in your area and may have complained to get it removed.

Mine under free was taken off but put it under service with beauty and they seem to stay. I had three hits for free microderm and one for a party. I just did the party last monday. no sales from it, remember, it is free.... but maybe down the road they will call me. Still glad I did it.

Curious to how you wrote your speel regarding hosting a spa. I haven't received any hits off craigslist so far. I have 2 on therefor MDA. Not sure how many Canadians actually search on this site. No one I know has even heard of it. Kijiji is the one they know about.

TIA,

Laurie
