This strictly depends on what type of business you run. I have seen several businesses have both an online brochure site, as well as a blog area.
If you are inquiring for your own business, could you post what you services/products you provide?
Thanks :)

Hmmm...my answer is no. I think it's great for a service based business to have a blog in addition to their site. However, I think that you'd need at least a mini site explaining what you do/offer. Then along with that a blog (link between the two). A mini site is the same thing as a "brochure site", actually.
I would think that people wouldn't necessarily want to dig around in a blog to find out what you can offer them, they'd like to have it right up front....easily accessible.

I have to agree with you Nola. A blog is a different experience and some of the more novice web visitors may have a hard time navigating a blog. The generally don't follow the same map as a standard website.
Your site would be the main landing page. A blog would be a great marketing push to drive traffic to your main site.

I would say no too.
A website is still the best choice and a blog can make a second great option.

Add my voteto agree with the others. Website first, to convey the essential information. Then a blog can be usedto give "bonus added content" (up-to-date on-going stuff is good) to your repeat customers.
Let us know which way you decide to go and when you get your site or blog up and running!

Depending on how it looks, a blog can hinder you, in that it could look
like countless other sites and not lend itself to enstill confidence in
your visitors/customers. Blogs are good for sharing thoughts etc, but
it's hard to see how you could make a business out of it. Perhaps you
mean a CMS (content management system)?
