I am thinking about joining another party planning business and give up
on my current one, but today I noticed that some well most of you have
more than one. Is it hard to keep them straight? I guess
it's no different than having a full time job and a business on the
side?? I am just wondering how many of you have more than one,
how many do you have and how easy/hard is it? Thank you!!!smileys/smiley4.gif

Erin, my biz isn't a party plan but I don't see why you can't do two if they compliment each other. I am thinking of adding a second myself!

Erin,

Its funny you ask because i have been with Big Yellow Box by Crayola for over a year (love it)and I just found out about another company that is about to launch called Heritage Makers.

I am hoping to keep them straight LOL - so far so good!! I love that I can offer people a huge variety of products. I say go for it as long as neither of the companies have policies against it.

Good luck with your decision :o)

If you want to, there's really no reason that you can't be involved in more than one. One thing to consider, however, is that if you promote to a management or executive or what-have-you position in one company, they usually prefer you to be somewhat exclusive. In other words, you really shouldn't and/or couldn't be a manager for two companies at the same time. I hope that makes sense! I just ate way too much food and even my brain feels bloated. smileys/smiley36.gif

I have no problem w/ 2 businesses. I started Mary Kay first 1 1/2 years agoand I justjoined Temptations Parties a month ago. Two totally different biz's! The thing to be careful about is not to do both parties at once. Your companies won't like it and it will confuse your customers and may well upset your hostess.

Imagine this, how would you feelif you booked a scrapbooking party and your consultant showed up and started unpacking her pampered chef stuff too? I personally would be all "I don't wanna cook, I wanna make pages!" Besides, it would mess up her hostess credits for the scrapbooking show.

What I do is at the end of my parties (for either company) is at the individual close, after they order and book for the hostess' party, I mention, "By the way, I also do X, just in case you're interested." and I include a biz card from my other business in with their order (or just hand them the card if you don't carry inventory).

The thing is, you may find one biz may "outgrow" the other. My Temptations biz has really taken off & I don't have time to do MK parties anymore. Since I still love the MK product, have a small downline, and have some devoted customers, I just do personal use for MK and just fill my customers' reorders as they come in!

I've been wondering this for quite some time! However I am very busy. I have a daycare and work for For Your Pleasure.

I'd really like to find something that would co-inside. Like maybe candles? I could burn one while I do my shows. However I only want to take orders with the other one because I am out enough with my parties.

I see many people do more than one company. Nothing wrong with that. But as for a conflict of interest, I would pick the one you are serious about and pursue that more and use the other for a hobby. Hope that helps! Good Luck!

Hi!

I have more than one company. I always said if one business took
over I would go with the one making me more money. However, I am
currently working my two party plans simultaneously. I am with
Noah's Ark Workshop and Spice It Up Parties, which do not really
complement each other, but work out fine. One with children, one
with adult women. The parties themselves tend to book at
different times--NAW in afternoons on weekends and SIU in the evenings.
I am also with Send Out Cards, which is not a party plan and I do from
home--I would really like to concentrate on it, and do the parties like
a "hobby".

I say if you have the time, do both. You could end up making
double! You can still set your schedule and do only the parties
you want--very doable!

Well, I've been doing flowers for almost 20 years but I've only been doing it with my own business now for about 8 or 9. I started HGP a little over a year now and loving it and I've been recently looking for another WAH business that doesn't necessarily require a lot of Home Parties but more online and catalog sales. I stay pretty busy with HGP and do seasonal work (holidays, Valentine's, etc.) and weddings with the florist so I don't know if I CAN pull off another WAH business but I sure can give it a trysmileys/smiley2.gif I've always said I'm Wonder Woman! Why Not? I've got lots of teenagers that can help if I need itsmileys/smiley36.gif

I think that things that compliment each other can be wonderful!

Jody ... if you're thinking candles, you might want to consider less of a party plan and more of a fundraiser approach (see my sig (http://Candle-Fundraiser-Advisor.com)?) ... could allow for 'fundraiser projects' to be going on at the same time that you're doing your other stuff??

Nikki ... I thought I'd share a site with you that I did for my hubby ... total affiliate program:

www.truckstopflowershop.com (http://www.truckstopflowershop.com)

Maybe some extention of your special knowledge onto a website would work ?? Are you familiar with SiteBuildIt (http://CTPM.sitesell.com/agoodsaid.html)?

Just some thoughts ...

I would like to hear more comments on this....

I think if you market them differently and individually I don't think there should be a problem...not all businesses are the same...I had been doing AVON for quite a while and then recently I had joined Jerky Direct (http://jackiesfamous.jerkydirect.com) and Greeting Cakes. I thought they were a GREAT Addition to AVON. But, I would like to do Home Shows and Parties so I am still looking into other things. It is horrible when their are SOOOOOOO many options. But I believe it can be done. You do not have to Market EVERY business you do, like some had suggested keep some as a hobby and if people are curious and are willing to purchase then sell it to them.

Hey Andrea, I went ahead and signed up with GrowerFlowers Affiliate Program. Thanks for the lead! I just signed up for the simple package and have the monthly special listed on my website. Thanks again!

I've been thinking about joining Jerky Direct for a few weeks now Jacquelyn. I love doing Home Parties on Saturdays with HGP but I think I might could just do JK online and with direct sales with all my family and friends. Still debating on it. Wanna be sure I've looked at everything before I commit to my next WAH business and I still haven't checked out everything I want to look at in the telecom. folders yet. Wish me luck!
