Hi All! I was messing around today and I had picked up a package of wicker balls at Walmart (in the craft section). There were 10 various shaped balls for 1.96. I took one votive and melted it and then dipped the balls in the melted wax, I actually triple dipped them, letting them cool between 'dips'. I did five of them with one votive. They turned out really neat! I just thought some of you might want to try it. There are numerous ways to sell them, in a pack, in a gift basket. Let your imagination run wild! They would look really cool on a platter as a centerpiece with or without other decorations. Try it and let me know what you think! LOL Lesly smileys/smiley1.gif

Those would be pretty in a decorative basket for christmas with some holly or ornaments or some kind of foliage for color.
Hmm..... maybe a christmas pine smell or the home for the holidays!!
You could even sell these for $15 or so!! GO CRAZY!!! smileys/smiley36.gif
You are awesome Lesly!! Thanks!! smileys/smiley32.gif

Tracy you are so funny. It was fun! I actually did it in a med size non-stick saucepan and kind of swirled them around in the melted wax, then pulled them out with a fork. Jen, you are the marketing genius! I'm thinking you could sell a set of ten for that much for sure! For Christmas, yes, great idea! I see them on a pretty plate or platter on the table, understated but terriffic smelling! This company is so fun and you guys are so neat!!! LOL Lesly smileys/smiley2.gif

I bet something like that can be decorated a little with some glitter, etc and be hung from the tree..... scented ornaments, perfect for artificial trees!

Lesly, do you have pictures? You are the craft queen! I think these would be so cute! My hubby is at walmart now and I am going to call him on his cell phone. Glad I read this quick!
Thanks Lesly! By the way what are you calling these?

Hey, Sandy, I thought they would be cute ornaments, but perhaps only on a REAL tree, not a fake one, the lights might melt the wax. But I LOVE the glitter idea! Debra, girl my digital camera isn't working. (Christmas gift I hope!). I guess you can call them whatever you want, it's up to you. Scented Balls, well no maybe NOT! If your husband picks these up for you, HE IS THE MAN!!! My husband would be like, "WHAT?" I think experiminting with this is best, see how you think they look. The first ones I made I didn't totally coat in wax, just enough to make them smell good. The next set I coated a bit more, they look OK, and will probably hold the scent longer since they have so much wax on them. Play around, that's what is so fun about doing this, You know? I was thinking a fake tree only because there generally isn't a scent that comes from it, but real trees seem to have a healthy pine aroma it may overwhelm the :::ahem::: scented balls smileys/smiley9.gif

Sandy, Do you think the wax or oils coming off of them would be harmful to a fake tree? The smell would be nice, since you don't get that from a fake tree. It might be a nice mix with a live tree, especially if you scented them with something complimentary. Like Christmas Pine, or really any of the wonderful Christmas type scents. Let me know what you think. LOL Lesly

Scented Balls - lol smileys/smiley36.gif Yep hubby picked up two packages. He works right next to Walmart and he stops in there sometimes and then calls me. I have had him pick me up my sample bags, floral tape, and other craft stuff there - he doesn't mind. I amsure thereare worse things I could have himpick up - lol!
Dinika, he couldn't find those neet votive boxes that look like Chinese take out though. I am bummed. I guess I will need to go myself. (If you want something done right....lol)
Lesly, dothey pick up the color of the wax?

Debra, Your husband is so nice! They only picked up the color of the wax if I dipped them alot! I think it is best to just kind of swirl them around in the pan, and then let them dry between. Unless you want them to be a color, then just put more wax. They seemed to pick up the scent really well, and not so much the color of the wax. Lesly

I honestly don't know - hmmm didn't think about it in that way. Might be worth testing out, but yes I do agree that a good complimentary scent may squeak out from the pine scent (I've had some trees that didn't have a lot of scent - nice and light, but some that had almost overwhelming scent to them - like to knock me out when I enter my house smileys/smiley36.gif)

Hi! I know what you mean Tammy. They should rent out spaces for campers in the parking lot! I checked my scented balls this morning and they still smell delicious and look good. I think the wicker holds the scent well, plus they don't fall apart in the wax. Has anyone else tried this? Have a great day everyone!!! LOL Lesly
