HI, I just started selling @rbonne about a month ago and have incurred some business related expenses like gift bags, food for parties, postage and packing materials, business aides, etc. Can I write these expenses off on my taxes? Being a consultant means I own my own business, correct?
Oh, and any help any one can offer me regarding how to sell the baby line in a children's store is greatly appreciated. I have the opportunity, just not sure what I need to do.
Thank you!

Yes, as an IC you own your business and yes those types ofexpenses can bewrittenoff asbusiness expenses. It's always a good idea to consult with a tax accountant about eligible expenses when you start your business rather than when it's tax time/crunch time.
Regarding selling at a retail business... per the @ rules and regulations, we are not permitted to sell our products at businesses that are not appointment-based. However, I would think you might be permitted to hand out literature such as sell sheets at the children's store, but definitely get permission from @ before doing that (by the way, all marketing materials must alsobe approved by corporate unless they are @ created materials such as a sell sheet).
Good luck with your new business!
