I love doing different things related to art and computers. And I thought what better way to express those interests than by graphic and website design. I am starting an estore online as soon as possible and also want to make a website for all my design work. I know basics on website design but am clueless on graphic design. I want to learn how to make estore templates and banners and graphics. I just have a few questions...
How did you all get started?
What programs do you use?
How did you learn?
Thank you so much</font></font>

ive always been a visual person and love creating designs.. i have been working online for a few years now and it started as a hobby while i waited for calls or emails to come in

i use adobe photoshop, ulead gif animator for graphics
i use coffeecup html editor for editing
and cuteftp for page uploads etc

i am basically self-taught..once you play around for so long, some things just start making sense! i also recommend http://www.htmlgoodies.com

do a google search for tutorials too! good luck hone

I am also very interested in getting some estore help. There are so many different Estore's to choose from its a little overwhelming. I can put together a webpage pretty easily but I almost need a complete walkthrough on owning and operating an online store. Receiving orders, shipping, so many different things that this entails.

As far as building webpages I got started from my community college which offers a Web Design degree that you can get taking online classes. I'm about 50% through with the program and it's been great. They start you off using the Adobe Creative Suite programs:

Dreamweaver
Photoshop
Illustrator
ImageReady

There are different things that you can do - I know a few people who use the do it yourself systems like pageBuzz (see my link). They just learn that system rather than going through and learning all kinds of other software. Plus, you avoid the hassle of having to learn how to install other components (such as shopping carts) and making sure they work with what you're doing.

In terms of doing graphics work, you would want to learn PhotoShop and ImageReady (to cut up the graphics or make animated images). I learned PhotoShop through one of those step by step books you can buy at Barnes&amp;Noble and ImageReady through practice smileys/smiley1.gif
