"I recommend people pursue a home-based career by investing in themselves and upgrading their skills through education," says Salomon.
This makes so much sense after working from home, I realized it was ok to feel out the work at home field being an ic, I am glad that I did not jump right into an affiliate type WAHJ.

That’s a good article Cheryl, I’ve just been looking at http://www.WorkAtHomeCareers.com (http://www.workathomecareers.com/) and the “Blog Reviewers Wanted,” $12 per hour straight into your Paypal account for pushing a few buttons could be a nice little earner while you’re getting a Home Business set up, thanks.

Wow! Just getting around to reading this. That's great for WAHM.com, great for those of us who hang out around the "water cooler" here, but especially awesome for women (and mensmileys/smiley2.gif) who are just now realizing there are more options than the 9 to 5 grind!

It was unfortunate that the writer of the article is obviously biased in favor of work-at-home J.O.B.s and against home (or anywhere on the planet with a laptop, internet connection and a phone! smileys/smiley32.gif) business opportunities. But perhaps some of the readers of the article will come visit us all here at WAHM.com and see there are many options!

Very cool! Thanks for sharing that, Cheryl! It's amazing how trends have shifted in the last 10 years. We're all in the right place at the right time!

To our continued success!

Now you've agreed with me. Working at home -- if you hope to succeed -- is harder than most realize.
If you have a product that people should actually see and taste, but email much faster way to get news out, one is always torn between catching up with the email, blogs, forums etc.; and getting out there offering people your literature and/or samples.
Does anyone have suggestions on prioritization?

Great article, and it's in my hometown newspaper!

I've worked harder for myself at home than I worked at any job, but what I love the most is that I can do it on MY own schedule. Being a complete night owl, I can work until 2 or 3 am if and when I want to, and sleep in.

If I am sick or need to do something/go somewhereduring a week day, I don't have to go through the horror of trying to decide whether to call in sick or to try and live through the day at work feeling like I'm at Death's door or something, or whether to spend my pitiful little allowance of paid time off for it!

When times have been very tough in my work at home career and I've considered giving up and getting a JOB again, I could just never bring myself to do it. And I plan to never do it again!

Laurie,
I agree with you in that you work harder -- or longer hours in home business, but it doesn't seem that way except when forced to do something unnatural -- like managing audio or video on computer for a "non-tech". I sure didn't have the diversity when I was just fighting the clock trying to get meds. out and treatments done in time.

Having an 8-5 job is taxing because a working mother seldom finds time with her children. Thanks to this work-at-home technology - more time is set aside for the children and the family as a whole. And the commuting problem? Oh it's already a thing of the past.

Working at home can be very challenging especially at the beginning because people think that things will automatically happen without doing any work! Well it usually doesn't, but if it did, it wouldn't be rewarding either! One of themost rewarding parts of working your own Home Business is the personal growth. That is amazing!

All in all I would say one of the best decisions I made was working my own Home Business! How rewarding!!! What a blessing it has been to me!

I worked as a Telecommuter for a transcription company employee from April 2004 to December 2007 in Operations from home. I thought I had the best job anyone could have. I LOVED working from home. Coffee and on the computer at 8am. My Husband would come home at 2pm and remark are you still in your PJ's? No time to come up for air. I was laid off with 150 others and was devistated. I worked for this company for 8 years. Went to work out in the work force after that and was then again laid off due to the economy. I have longed to work from home and have been looking ever since 4/1. I responded to an ad I found here and start tomorrow. Commission but happy I found something. Everyone has been very helpful in my search. I really appreciate it. I wrote an article on ezine articles about it if you are interested. I had a need to vent and wrote the article. I didn't write it to promote a website I don't have one just felt there were other like me out there so I decided to reach out and touch someone.
