I think I may have the opportunity to have a "table" at a huge charity/fundraiser event in Oct.............
Question is, how much inventory should I take with me ????? Anyone have a ballpark figure of how many jars I should possibly take, how many simmer pots etc. I know, it is hard to judge howmuch I will possibly sell, but this is a "wealthy" country club that it is going to be held at, and there will be other tables, silent auctions, etc. etc. Basically, a LOT of people coming thru during the weekend.
Any ideas ??? Your opinions and feedback will be most appreciated. !!!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Well..im new here..but some of the thoughts that came into my mind immediately were:
Will it be advertised as a cash n carry event? I know i tend to buy more votives personally at cash n carry events, and then place orders for larger candles.
I know that when I personally start doing craft shows, big events, etc. I will do my best to have as many samples available of ALL scents and then as many votives as possible. In my opinion (and as i stated..im new to this so dont laugh..i could be way off!), but votives burn faster, so they run out faster and need a replacement candle much quicker. If I have a jar just sitting around for awhile, I forget how good it smells and tuck it away for awhile, but when a votive has almost burned down, I realize..oh man i love this scent and it isnt gonna last long, time to replace it! Not sure if thats making sense or not!
I do get your take on why the jars would be great too, bc it will be a "wealthy" country club. I bet the simmer pots would do well there, and definitely the melts. Good luck, I'm sure you will let us know how it turns out!!

First of all, do you own a table already? If so, how big is the table? The reason why I asked, because I always considering purchasing inventory with the size of the table that the vendor will provide. If they don't provide a table, I'll bring my own table, but my table is not quite 10 ft. So I always bring an extra tables so I can show everything that I have in my inventory.
I've done many shows since I joined the company and you just never know how many candles people will buy.
Usually I always have at least 1 and half case of jars, 2 simmer pots, 4 bags of melts, some bella buns, 4 car air fresheners, 4 different type of votives, 4 different type of bella bars. Hand wash and body wash are optional for me. Sometimes, I have them, sometimes I don't.
I always try to keep the items in pair, because I offered quantity discount to my customers. Say, for the votives, by one for $3 and 2 for $5.
Hopefully that helps. smileys/smiley1.gif

Also, what is huge? In small towns a turn out of 1000 is huge, in bigger towns 10,000 is huge?
That will help us to answer as well :)

First, let me say congrats! I've only done one event, but it was a fairly large, 3-day thing. I took 2 cases of jars, but only sold about 8 of them. I had 4 boxes of votives, which I didn't sell all of, but I sold at least a few of each scent so I agree that 4 scents is good in the votive department. I sold 4 or 5 warmers.I had about 12 different Mia Melt scents. And sold quite a few of them. What I did was mix 'n match. I took small baggies (3X4) and labels and would let thempick the scents they wanted. This went over very well! People really liked being able to get a bunch of different scents!
Make sure you give out scent samples with your biz card attached. I got a big order about a month later from doing that.
Have fun!!Edited by: EnivaAngie
