Thank you all once again.
I was talking to hubby last night about doing a candle business.
I wrote down few people that I know, that would try my candles and could be my first customers.
I then tried to come up with a plan as far as how to promote it and how to advertise my business.
So my question is, How do you advertise your candles?
I was thinking to put flyers up, or give samples our, etc. Does that make any sense?

Hi-
First, Welcome to the board. You will find great information and wonderful people here.
I advertise my candles in MANY different ways. The most important thing is "talk, talk, talk"! I let everyone I know aboutmy business. (even people I don't)
Samples are a must in this business. I just stick asample under their nose andit's sold. I hardly have to "sell".
You can also wholesale them to businesses with some brochures or biz cards next toyour display.
Craft fairs are also a great way to advertise.
You're only limited by your own imagination.
Good luck with your candle biz! and stick around, you'll receive tons of great advice here.

I promote my candle business by posting online ads, flyers, handing or mailing out samples and sometimes putting an ad in our local paper (when money permits). I also plan on doing a postcard mailing soon.
Some of the other reps I know put window decals on their car, or get a vanity license plate with something pertaining to candles on it, which I'm sure gets attention. Some do home parties and fundraisers or sell at craft fairs. The key is finding the method that's enjoyable and works for you smileys/smiley1.gif

All of those are great suggestions!! the best way as mentioned by the girls above is just get those candles in front of people's noses!! They wont be able to resist!!!
I do message boards, and free online advirstising and i also purchase some leads from my upline. You will have that option as well. I have car magnets and i hand out or leave business cards with scent samples everywhere i go. When i first started i had my COTM and my sample bag and i held an office party for the girls at hubbys work and i made over 200$ profit!!!!
THEY REALLY DO SELL THEMSELVES!! And as Tracy said, you are only limited by your imagination!!! smileys/smiley2.gif

The way I advertise is by flyers at aparment complexes. I have had great response by doing that. I would also pin up those tear off sheets on bulletin boards at churches, schools, mailboxes, (our apartment complex has a bulletin board right by it) laundry mats.
Leave catalogs at laundry mats, doctors, (leave them where people would be waiting, they are more likely to read the catalog)
Also, keep business cards on you too!! Those are a must. One of our White Lily consultants had a suggestion in placing the business cards in the aroma bead samples so when you pass out the biz cards, they smell like the candles!! I hope this helps and good luck infinding you acandle business. I am always here if you have anymore questions. Thankssmileys/smiley1.gif

I sell online and off, and advertise both ways.Offline Iuse flyers and business cards, I have candles in several business astablishments, and I often sponsor local drawings. And - of course- word of mouth is always the best!
Online I use sig lines, ads (paid and free), ad swaps, contests, and again- word of mouth!
HTH!

Hi there ~
Many candle reps/crafters also use fundraisers as a way of getting their product/name out locally 'en masse'.
If you put a label with your info on each candle that's sold, then
people have a way to contact you to re-order when they want more.
I've started a website that's dedicated to helping people who want to
learn how to run candle fundraisers or are interested in using candles
as a fundraiser product for their organization.
Though I am affiliated with a particular company, my aim is to keep the site info generic and useful to all of us.

There's a lot to be done yet, but hopefully you'll find something good there ;-)
Best,
Andrea

Those are all great ideas. Also if you are willing to network with other business owners, you can think up some creative ideas as well. Making welcome baskets for new home owners, selling to local restaurants etc. You are starting at a wonderful time with the holidays coming up.
I am sure you have one or two friends who owe you a party as well. Invite some people over for an open house!
