I make up the little baggies with grated candles. I have had several people add the gratings to unscented tea lights so they can experience the smell. (we all know how they smell even more fab when melted!).
Any other suggestions of what people can do with them? Someone said keep in car as an air freshener, butI dont think 1 or 2 little baggies is enough to freshen a car for too long! thanks

Hi Debra!

I have started making sachets and people love them! I have had someone tell me that they used it as a car freshener and can't believe how the scent permeates their car! I tell people to take the samples and put it in a potpourri burner or simmer pot to get the full effect.

I have even heard of some people using the gratings as a carpet freshener when vacumning.

I'll have to recommend to my customers about the tealight thing!

Deb, the tea light idea is awesome!

Yolanda...something that Kellene Van Dorn is she has set up with used car dealers the sachet thing..it has her biz card on it...not sure what scent she uses (she likes the grape one for a big effect...) but she does generate business that way..

Be careful in the hot sun with a sachet; it can melt out of the bag!

Where are you getting your sachets from? I'd like to get some!

best to you, julie andrews

Yep, I put a sticker on my scent sample bag that says you may use in your warmer. Although not a full size melt, you could use it that way if you want or just smell and enjoy!!

Great ideas ladies!!

I always put some grated votives in my vacuum cleaner bags when I change them. Has made a huge difference on the smell since I have 5 animals.

Joli,

I do like the sachet idea. Can I ask what your using to make them so that the fragrance is released?

I tried to do this once a while back and use the bags for wedding favors. The fragrance smell great, the only problem with them was that in the hot summer months it will begin to melt and drip.

Luckily I had only experimented putting them in my own vehicles. Wanted to try it out before I market any.

Would love to know how yours are working?

Hi ladies,
Well I use a potato peeler to get shavings from a votive after cutting it into 3 pieces. Then I put them in a 3x3 ziplock bag and then in an organza bag. I did have some people use them as car fresheners and told them about the possible melting in the ziplock bag and discoloration but so far no complaints!

I get my organza bags from cudge.net and fetpak. Just saw a post on one of the yahoogroups for this other cool site:
http://www.yourorganzabag.com they have the 3 x 4 bags on sale for 9 cents each! They also have the 4 x 6 bags on sale and you can get them in quantaties of 30 and a flat rate shipping of $4.50 I believe.
Thanks Janel for posting that BTWhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif I just bought some for myself and they have some fabulous colors to choose from!

P.S. Julie whatever works for Kellene Van Dorn is okay by me! I do remember that call and it was a great one about building your business in the summer time!

Julie,
You betcha! I don't know what it is about the grating of the votives that really brings out the scent but it seems to do the trickhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

I have sold sachets to people who would never have thought of buying candles from me because of how great they smell! And had them coming back for more!

I always say give the customers what they want! LOL Plus I plan on selling them at flea markets along with the regular products just to offer a variety. I'm sure they would do well at craft fairs as well!

Now I'm off to make some more....LOL I just love when people ask me if I can make them a sachet of a specific scent! With over 90 scents there is sure to be something for everyone's taste!

You may want to take some to the NH meeting Julie! I'm sure you and Deb will knock everyone's socks off!

Yes Yolanda,

Thanks for sharing. Can I ask how much you sell them for?

I think the zip lock bag is a great solutions to the melting problem that I was having.

Thank you so much for sharing that tip.

hi there Yolanda! Sounds like a great idea but I can't get sachets that fast...but will look for them at michaels maybe...what scent do you use, socp? I would think our cactus/white peach would be great! Julie

I use the ziplock bags in my organza also.. but I take a straight pin and poke about 3-4 holes in the ziplock to allow the scent to escape! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Yolanda, you recommend the 3 by 4 organza bag, and then, you use carrot peeler shavings rather than grating them on a cheese grater...just getting it right! The woman's networker group I belong to would love them..

Hi everybody,
I have done several scents but not SO & CP! I did the Cactus and White Peach and that one was very popular. I use a 3 x 3 ziplock bag(same size that I use for the individual melts) and then use a vegetable peeler. So I try to get shavings instead of a fine powder. Then I use a 4 x 6 organza bag to put the ziplock bag in. I sell them at $2 each and like I said previously have had customers coming back for more!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

I know I saw loose organza bags in AC Moore but I would definately buy them in bulk. the website I posted lets you buy them in packs of 30 and at a great price!

You can get them in mixed colors in bulk at www.fetpak.com (http://www.fetpak.com) .

Let us know how your networking group likes them Julie!Edited by: joli

I posted last night- sorry if this is a repeat. I dont see the other post.
Yolanda, are the organza bags very see-thru? Can you see the baggie of shavingS? I guess you cant use a thicker bag for the scent but how does it look? I'd love to make some as a small impulse purchse or gift. any other advice appreciated. thanks!

Debra,
Yes the white ones are see through although the colored ones are pretty cool. I have gotten some through fetpack and they had a few dark colored ones.

I tell everyone that I put them in the plastic baggie in case they wish to use it as a car freshener but that they can take it out of the bag and leave it in the organza. Trust me the smell comes through the plastic just fine!

If you are still selling your candles in front of your brothers store maybe you should make some up and try to sell them that way? See how it goes. I am pretty sure that you will be surprised at how people will respond to them.

yolanda, yes, thats what i was thinking for in front of the store plus thye are small enough to carry with me to show or sell. I have enough to hold witha baby and 2 small kids that I cant lug around too much more . I could also have a few on the counter of the store to show and I am thinking about making a sign and sample of votives in holders or pretty boxes for wedding favors. Has anyone done wedding favors with our products?
