Hi there.... new here to this site, and also new to Mia Bella candles. I just signed up to be a distributor 2 months ago....havne't had alot of success yet, but hopeful that I can get some ideas and make some money.

I am a SAHM of 3 great kids, married to my best friend, and I live in a small town in Iowa. NOt sure if because I live in a rural area is why I havent' had much luck yet, but I am hopeful and really want to succeed.....so please ANY suggestions, hints, tips would be greatly appreciated.

Money has been very tight with us being a one income family, that was my first motivation to join and try this out. I have sold Avon before but being "the new girl in town" (literally), I didn't get too much business because I wasn't known and I gave it a valiant effort before quitting.

Again I am "the new girl in town", we just moved to this town in May of this year, and I am doing all I can to meet people and get active in the community. I have heard about ONLINE parties etc....but never had one or been involved in one, but would love to learn more about that as well. We don't have any family nearby so we can't even ask them to help out by sending samples and brochures with them, so I am really starting at the bottom here.

PLEASE HELP....I want to succeed and we really need the extra money.

TIA

HUGS and Blessings to all!!!

Welcome, TIA! I am new to the company also. But I am so excited about the unlimited possibilities with the company. You can work this business in so many ways, and with the internet, it seems like the sky is the limit. I have found so much information on this board, so visit it daily. Everyone is so helpful.

It's good to meet you and I look forward to "seeing" you on the board.

Greetings MrsSillyMom!

Your desire to succeed *will* make it happen - don't give up!

First, join your local Chamber of Commerce! There is usually asmall annualfee but well worth it! You meet fellow business owners and leaders in your community, they often hold networkingbrunches or lunches where you get to talk to others about your business.

You instantly will get 'known' in town as a fellow business owner!

Second - meet your neighbors! Simply knock on the door and say, "Hello, I'm pretty new to the area, we moved here in May - and I wanted to introduce myself and share that I am your local Mia Bella Lady offering natural wax candles. Take a sniff!" Extend your hand with a jar "we have over 90 fantastic fragrances and with the holidays coming I thought it would be a good time to launch my business! I work from home so I can stay with my 3 children!"

If someone is hesitant, you can ask "would you like to earn a free candle? I'm looking for local people to hold a candle party"

Take it from there, it can be difficult at first but remember the worst someone can say is 'no'!

ORRRRR - Hold an open house and walk around and invite the neighbors, ask them to bring friends, post flyers around town - etc!

Dream BIG you WILL succeed if you EXPECT success!

BLESS

Hi Melissa...

I just started a little over two months ago too! One thing to keep in mind is that you need to commit to building your business. It took a few weeks for me to get in the swing of this. Do something proactive for your business everyday. It doesn't matter if it's mapping out your course of action for the next week, assembling scent samples, posting on message boards, etc.

As far as Online Parties I just had my first one about a week ago. Even wrote a short article about it. I thought it went real well. I'm doing another on Oct 26 so feel free to stop in to check things out. I don't mind.

This business is unique in that you're able to choose your course of action...how you're going to build and be successful. It's important that you figure out which method will work best for you. Don't worry if something that someone else has done doesn't work for you. Just make sure you get out and start doing something. Watch your business grow!!

BE BLESSED

Hi Melissa,

I just wanted to drop by and give my two cents! Both Alethea and Dinika have giving you some wonderful advice. This business is truly want you make of it. Anything is possible!

Here are some things that you could do to get started:

Set weekly goals for yourself

Find one way you would like to start you business and "just do it"

If possible, get some business cards from VistaPrint or the company. Then make some sample bags(2x3) and staple them to your business cards. Hand those out to people when you are running daily errands.

Start talking to people about what you do. They will never know unless YOU tell them!smileys/smiley2.gif
[/list]

Maybe those things can help you get going and bring in some wonderful customers for you.

Hope that helps!

Many Blessings,

Natalie

With this buisness the possibilities are endless,Im new too and live in a small town and no one has ever heard of mia bella candles and it's unbelievable the response i get from these candles,The thing is talk to as many people as you can!!!! I have an excellent sponsor who gave me the encouragement to get out there and speak to people,I was nervous at first but each time you do you get more comfortable with yourself, and be POSITIVE about your candles and people will be drawn to that.Success does not happen overnite, but if you do something everyday for your buisness, then it will all add up,I talk to at least 3-5 people daily about my candles and I have really been getting a good response.Im still new but im also absorbing all the training calls, visits with my sponsor and most of all being positive!!!!I try to take advantage of every training call/coaching call you will learn much from that.If it gets too intense at times and you feel overwhelmed just take a step back and just breathe,it will get better!!!

Thanks for all the support and wonderful ideas and tips. I know I need to "get out there" more and really talk up my business. I had hoped that I would get a better response from my friends that I have in a Moms group I belong to, enough to at least order my first case of jars, but that didn't happen. I really want to prove my hubby wrong on this business. I love these candles and I struggle to not light the ones I do have. I am saving them to sell. LOL

Althea I love the idea of just going around to neighbors and introducing myself.

Thanks again everyone. I am hoping to be able to afford to get in on the training calls, we don't have long distance and the minutes we purchase each month are pretty much for emergency and to call our family since they all live out of state. But as soon as things are better finanacially I will definitely be listening in.

Melissa,

Welcome. Remember, it ALL starts with your weekly business plan and your commitment. Nothing happens without them both.

Look PAST any perceived challenges, such as a rural area, and move forward.

I live in a very small community myself, but have found other tools to get the word out!

So, share your weekly business plan with us....

Hi Melissa! Great to have you here. You have already received so much great advice. I also live in a smaller town & have 3 kids. I first got the word out at my children's school .... sharing with the other moms, doing silent auctions, fundraisers, teacher's gifts, craft fairs, etc.

You CAN build your business ... keep sharing your business every day. It will grow Melissa if you stay persistant and consistant and it gets easier and easier to talk with people about your candles the more you do it.

Many Blessings,
