Okay... So I have a LARGE inventory! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif I went a little crazy last year on purchasing products on sale, and now a have a lot of products to move!!! I also am moving in a couple of months, and I have already decided to do a 'Moving sale' and have like an Open house. Unfortunately, my open houses do not bring a lot of people in for me. Do any of you have any suggestions for a successful open house?

Or even any other ideas on how to move a lot of products... quickly? http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

I am new to the forum and pretty new to BC. I am having an open house in a few weeks and here are a few of the things I am trying to have successful attendance. Door prizes- If you attend you receive a ticket when you arrive and every hour, on the hour, I pull a ticket for a mini. The tickets go into a master drawing for a larger prize ($50 gift cert.). Once I have drawn the hourly ticket, I start over for the hourly drawing, whoever arrives during that hour goes into that drawing. Does that make sense? I think I confused myself!! I am offering special deals on things that are on sale or I have a surplus of such as If you spend $100, receive the seaweed masque for 50% off (or whatever you need to move). I'm offering sets at 10% off. You can offer a mystery hostess that will receive the hostess benefits at the end of the open house. Can offer ___% off during the first 2 hours, ___% off during the next 2 hours, and so on til you close. If all of this is on a flier that is posted and/or handed out maybe they won't be able to resist coming. I haven't tried e-postcards yet, so not sure if you could send one out to all current clients that you are having a moving sale via open house and encourage stocking up on some favorite items while receiving special deals. I have no idea if any of this would work, but I'm giving it a go! Good luck!

I need this info too! I have alot of inventory as well and was thinking the same thing - an Open House. Just not sure how to bring everyone in. Any ideas to bring people in? Drawing, raffle? I was thinking of asking a friend or two to join me. One does Pampered Chef and the other is a food company. Think tastefully simple or something like that. That way she can bring some food samples and help me advertise it.

So can anyone share some ideas on bring people in?

Melanie - how long do you plan on having the open house? Like a 9-5 kind of thing?

I did an open house when I first started my business...I had a Cookie Lee jewelry consultant there who set up her display for people to look at and also attended the spa portion of my open house...I would suggest that if you have another consultant from another company that they invite all of their clients and friends as well so that you are exposed to more people that you might not otherwise have invited...make sure to invite all current clients as well as friends, neighbors, people you do business with etc...maybe offer something special to regular clients...instead of discounts why don't you offer gifts with purchase like the major dept. stores do...that way you could move more product...like they would get a gift of a ful;l size product when they buy a certain amt

Another one of the ideas I was tossing around was to schedule a mini 30 min. spa 2 or 3 times during the open house. So if my hours were 9-5, then I would schedule them at 10, 1, and then 4. What do you guys think? Am I making too much work for myself, or do you think it is a good way to get the guests to interact with the products?

I did that with mine, but you could also use the stations idea that is posted on beautinet this month...the angie barrett thing...that way if people come and go it might be easier to keep things flowing...instead of doing the formal relaxation, maybe you just have an area where you have the music playing and the eyepads set out and they can just go and relax

I am going to do it from 10-5 and I forgot to say that I am doing the stations. I am actually doing it through my mom and sister. They had so many to invite that we turned it into an open house so that people could come and go and stay as little or as long as they liked. This way all of the invited feel very comfortable bringing their own guests, too.

maybe also offer some kind of gift or discount if they bring a guest

I'm actually doing one tonight with4 other consultants from different companies (Pampered Chef, Discovery Toys, Epicure spices, and a home finance). We are calling it Christmas in July, and I figured if we all invited everyone on our lists, etc, we should get more people. I've also invited my neighbourhood people, etc.I am offering discounts on all my instock stuff, am going to do the stations and have door prizes. It is going to be in my back yard, so I am just taking a break now as I madly cleanhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley11.gif.
We'll see how it goes....

Oneveryimportantthing to remember is that when you have an Open House or do any type of function with another party plan, you aremost likelysplitting your profits. And, what I mean by that is that most guests will come to your Open House with a specific dollar amount in mind that they will spend. Say, they bring $100, they won't spend it all with you, they will spread it around! Having said that, if the other consultants are inviting their customers, you'll have an opportunity to make some new connections.

Best of Luck with your Open House...

I have an open house scheduled in a couple weeks. I did e-vites for the invites so that I can see who is coming and read their responses. I left it pretty open and said to drop by for some spa treatments. I'm going to give gifts with purchase and gifts for bring a guest and booking a spa. Also, I told everyone they can bring their kids if need be as my daughter will be home (my hubby is out of town that weekend) so hopefully more ppl will come since a lot of my friends have toddlers. Also, I'm doing the stations so that people can try out the things they want to try. I'm hoping to have some sales to give me some extra cash for Celebration and hopefully I'll get a few spas booked for Aug & Sept after Celebration.

How old is your daughter spamommie...maybe if she is old enough you could have her help out by taking care of the kids that come...either way try to plan an activity or have some toys out to keep them occupied...sounds like you are definately gonna want to do the stations then

I did my open house with the other consultants last night and it went really well. We were going to do it outside, but it was just too hot, so at the last minute we came in. It got a little crowded, but no one seemed to mind. I got people set up with spa treatments, then they sat around talking a bit to the other consultants. I got 2 bookings out of it, sold 2 skincare sets and a few other products. For me, I really want the bookings, so that was great.
