Hi,
Here's a new idea I am trying that my director told me about called a customer appreciation spa, where I go in and provide complimentary spa services on behalf of the company, so they can appreciate & thank their customers.
Iput together a proposal and went into my local Curves Fitnessyesterday and asked if they would be interested. At first the owner was a little skeptical, butby the end of the meeting she was really excited and will probably do it at the end of August, and even offer incentives for her customers to bring a friend in for free that day and have tea & coffee, etc.
I really tried to look at it as a win-win situation: they get to thank and appreciate their customers, as well as generate some new business, and I get exposure for my business in the community.
This would really work well anywhere there is a lot of traffic - my director initially got this idea from someone who did it quite successfully at a Quizno's.
I'm going to try the other Curve's in town today, and may some other places this week as well. I'm pretty excited, and like that it benefits everyone involved.

Hi Coreena,
This is a great idea and definitely a win-win! Just curious...what did you put together for your proposal? Did you just walk in and ask to speak to the manager, or had you called first and set up the meeting? I've been doing some cold calling to businesses to either spa their employees or their customers (as a customer appreciation event), and I've been using Angela Brown's great work spa script asa guideline (I don't like reading scripts as it sounds so...well, scripted...but I do keep it by me to help guide my conversation). The response has been mostly negative thus far. I'm not sure if I just haven't hit on the right places yet, or if I'm not really communicating the value of having me come in and spa their employees and/or customers, but something's not working quite right.
Congrats on the Curves spa and best wishes for much more success!

He Melissa,
I just went into the Curves and asked for the Manager and said that I am an independent consultant for BeautiControl, a mobile spa company, and I have a proposal for a Customer Appreciation DayI would like to discuss. I have the proposal, the Oprah ad, a catalog and a hand scrub sample in a folder that I am able to give to the manager. I just went over the proposal with her, explaining how it would benefit her by not costing her anything, yet creating customer loyalty and would benefit me by getting exposure for my business. And, even though this message will be long, I'm cutting and pasting the proposal I wrote here:
Proposal for Customer Appreciation Day at Curves
I provide a mobile spa service as an Independent Consultant with BeautiControl. I propose that Curves provides a Customer Appreciation Spa Day, where I come in at no-cost and allow Curves customers to experience complimentary Spa Treatments during a given day and time.
Benefits:
<UL>
<LI>This will cost Curves nothing, as I supply all my own set up, products, and flyers.</LI>
<LI>The flyers will say something to the effect of: Customer Appreciation Spa Day, sponsored by Curves.</LI>
<LI>This is a no-cost program that you can provide as a service and a thank you to your customers to create loyalty and goodwill.</LI>
<LI>This will build on the Curves philosophy of wellness and fitness. This fits, without any conflicts, with the BeautiControl philosophy of showing people how to reduce stress in their everyday lives and take time for themselves.</LI>
<LI>My goal is to remind people to take time for themselves as well as to gain exposure for my business in the community.</LI>
<LI>Potential add-on: We could encourage customers to bring a friend who is not a member of Curves to try your services and enjoy a complimentary Spa treatment.</LI>[/list]
We have the option to do this on one or several days and times. I am able to implement this proposal very quickly, hosting the Appreciation Day(s) in July.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to working with you to bring the benefits of my service to your company.
