I did a FallFest/craft show on Saturday. There was a mix of party plan and handmade crafts. One older lady who was set up across from me, was horrible. She had hand made towels and potholders. All day we could hear her badmouthing us to the customers. We "didnt belong here" bacause we did not make our items by hand. I thought I was the only one who heard her, but towards the end of the day, other party plan reps told me they heard her too. I was so angry that I reported her to the lady in charge of the show. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Was it rude of me to report her? I felt better after I did it.

What she was doing was unprofessional and she was bad-mouthing your business. You had every right to report her, imo!

I would have done the same thing. Did you go over and let her know that the people who run the thing obviously thought you belonged there or you wouldn't have been allowed a booth?
We have some huge craft shows coming up here that I thought about trying to do and I worry about the same thing happening. Hopefully though, the people that she was badmouthing you to felt the same way you did. Most of the time when someone is acting like that, people turn away from them. Negativity isn't something people want to be around when they are at events like that.
How did you do with the show? If it was productive for you despite her, keep your head up knowing that you did what you could by reporting her. Next time, you'll be successful again and now that the lady in charge knows about her, maybe she'll have her keep her jealousy to herself or not be able to have a booth.
Take care and God Bless!!!

If I look into craft fairs I always state the nature of my business because I want them to be clear that my wares are not exactly home-made. Some coordinators have politely refused my inquiry and I couldn't do the show. But if they give me permission to be there, then I don't care.
At my mall expo, we were right next to a booth selling cell phones. Talk about rude! People would be walking up to our table, their eyes down reading our table signs, and these jerks would yell to them. Their attention was immediately diverted to the cell phone jerks who were then so rude to them, that they would just walk away peeved. We lost a good amount of business because of them, and I reported them to the expo coordinator.
I hope your next craft show goes better!

I think you did the right thing~ If you shouldn't have been there, then the lady in charge would not havehad you set up a booth. I am doing a craft & vendor show in November, and they welcome both!
We do have a hug holiday craft show (and a big hit) at the end of November at the high school. There they do not allow vendors~
So, basically, you were in the right, and maybe this woman needs to be spoken to. You did the right thing~

LOL! I did a childcare conference this weekend. The funny thing is, the only one who made any sales was the Purse Lady!

You know, the craft shows always list whether retail items are allowed there or not, so that lady could have not come to that show knowing that retail items were allowed. That was her choice to attend that show... so tough on her! LOL
