You can download a trial for the 2007 here for free but you have to buy it as far as I know.

Are you just needing to view WORD documents or you need the full program? If you just need to view, you can download freeviewer from downloads.com

You might want to try http://www.openoffice.org/
I have used it for over a year and it's great. It opens Word and Excel documents for viewing and editing. The Word viewer only opens for viewing and you can't change the document at all. Open Office allows you to open, change and save the document back into the proper format. It was a life saver since I also have Windows XP Home.
