Hey ladies, I am doing my first craft fair in one week!!!
My booth space is 10x10 (though I can't visualize how much that
is). I just have a small card table that is the narrow kind for
my cash and carry/display items.
I have a night stand (lightweight) that I thinki I will take to use for
check/out (cash drawer and bags, etc). But I am afraid I don't
have many products at this time to really make a neat display with, and
have no $$ to buy some. SOoooo....what are some creative
spa/holiday ideas I could add into my display?
I thought about having a big rocking chair there for pple to sit at
while I pamper their hands. But I'm not sure it will fit in my
space???
Help!!

congrats on your first craft fair - I do these regularly have them the next 5 weeks
You need to have height to your display - be certain to drape your table to the ground(covers up storage containers underneath) put remnant material around the top off your table something to catch the eye - put boaxes and cover with material for the height - be cure to have signs with biz name so it can bee seen from people walking both directions - put your biz cards on the table - if you have a catty put in plastic page covers on the table for folks to look through - cattys are expensive so dont just sit on the table for folks to take and throw away - give if they ask or if they buy ask if they want one
make sure product is priced people dont like to have to ask how much
if possible have a drawing use lead slips - this gives you name, address, email and ask questions if they would want to have a party - receive updates etc
that's all i can think of at the moment
Good Luck with it! You learn more by trial and error on these then anything!

Tammy,
Ideas for a holiday theme display ...

How about a little artificial Christmas tree with a few products under it?

Wrap boxes in Christmas wrap and stack to display items.

Could you play Christmas music softly?
Not ready for a Christmas display?

Pumpkins

Leaves

Corncopia
Try to think how to incorporate your products into all that.

Do something unique/flashy so your booth will stand out....play a little music maybe or have a really tall xmas tree or something. I think folks sitting ina rocking chair would draw attention....
As for a raffle.....i no longer give away an item to gather names because I would just end up with a mailing list of folks not necessarily interested in Celebrations, but just interested in getting something for free. So when folks stop by, I just hand them a clip board and ask if they'd like to be on my mailing list, host a party or want more info about becoming a consultant. that way I know that when I contact them, that they are genuinely interested.
Hope that helps!

These are some great ideas! I just thought I'd add that I think a rocking chair (maybe even 2 chairs) WOULD fit into that space without feeling cramped... and it's a great idea. Like Christy said, it would definitely attract attention.
Another idea... do you have any out of date catalogs? If not, you could do this with current ones. Cut a couple of catalogs apart, and put stickers on the individual pages, something like"Call me to receive a FREE copy of our full catalog!" And putyour contact info.Well, I'm not feeling terribly creative right now LOL! These make good flyers so you have something to pass out to those who don't take the time to stop at your booth (maybe include your booth # or location as well, and if you're doing some pampering be sure to include a note about that, too). This way, when they DO take the time to look at the flyer, they'll be more inclined to make their way back to your booth.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!

Lauren,
I love the idea about cutting up old catalogs...I do have some old
ones. I have some blank biz cards that I can write the little
note on.
I think I will also do what someone else suggested and wrap boxes w/ Christmas paper and stack products on top of them.
I have a mini Christmas tree I will try to set up (its like 1 foot tall)smileys/smiley36.gif
But at least it looks festive! I could make up a few gift cards
and have them hung like ornaments on the tree for people to
buy...hmmmmm.....

I like your chair idea---make it seem like a spa retreat! If it is a big craft fair....I am sure you will get curious people who just need a rest, if nothing else...lol

10 x 10 is actually a nice sized booth. I just did one last week that size. If there is a draped back to your booth (like a high fabric wall behind you that separates you from the other booths) you should definitely hang some signs up. If you don't have banners from your company, make one. You want people to see your name when they walk by.
I also put a table (or sometimes two plastic bins stacked on top of each other draped with fabric) towards the front of my booth. This is where I put the door prize drawing information. I want people to walk by and create a buzz by filling out the slips. If no one is stopping, I stop them and say "We are giving away this fabulous prize..you need not be present to win, and you don't want to miss it" or something like that. By having this little table at the front of my booth, people are stacked up in the aisle filling out the forms...this means other people start noticing and they come over to see what the hoopla is about! I am always one of the more popular booths!
If you don't have lots of money...or lots of product to give away...make a giant check and put it on an easel behind this table! Make the prize be a gift certificate...then you get the commission on the order, too!
You do need to determine what your purpose for being at this event is...leads? sells? recruits? If you are working the booth alone, you will not be able to be pampering people and getting lots of leads... maybe you could stand near the door prize table, and as they enter the drawing you could offer them a squirt of lotion...
Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I just finished one yesterday and I can tell you two things that I lacked:
Signage & Price Tags!
I wish I would have had time to make up signs like:
"FREE BOOKING GIFTS" or "FREE DRAWING", etc.
I was passing kidney stones two full days before the event so I didn't have them ready. I did have two Cash & Carry sales and got lots of contact names & info. from our Free Drawing. I DO like using the FREE DRAWING to get leads because some may book later whereas they are not able to book the day of the event. For me, festivalsand community events are not great for instant sales as much as pentential hostesses and leads. Maybe C&C sales will pick up as Christmas nears. Good luck!

I too like the rocking chair idea.Make sure to hang a few samples of your products on your minitree with small ribbons and if someone books a party they receive a sampleright then and there. It will be your own little booking tree.
Do you have a basket or two (or silver bowls or containers) around the house? Maybeadd a few white towels(you can gethandtowels for $1.00 at discount stores) and roll them up in a basket with a few products. Use more towelson your table as your display. I think white ones always remind me ofa spa.
I hope all goes well for you!
