I have a little experience selling items on eBay, so far, it's just been things that I no longer had a use for. However, I've also gotten into making baby things since my daughter was born.I was thinking about making and selling baby items such as slings, security blankets, quilts, etc. and I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with that sort of thing.
So, is their really a profit to be made from selling handmade baby items on eBay? Or should I find some other way to work at home?

There's site for crafters and artist called itsy I think. I know that I have looked on ebay for cloth diapers and then ran into some hand made ones that I really liked. I have seen some people custom make them for the customers too.
Maybe you can do organi slings and blankets. I know it's hard to find.

This is a hard question to answer, as there is no way to be able to guarantee that it will work. As with any business, there is always some risk involved. However, if you don't give it a whirl, you'll never know!
One thing you can do is search for items in the completed auctions like you are wanting to sell, and see how they are doing. That can give you a good idea if there is demand for your product. Even then, if your's is unique, you may have an advantage over the others. Trial & error is really what selling on eBay is all about, and the ability to adapt as the market changes.

You should definately give it a go - Research is good, but hot sellers will soon make themselves known to you, so it may be just as well to make up a few items and see what sells. Good luck!

Personally, I would try to make a "how to" video of how to make these items and sell the video on Ebay. Very low profit margins...only create it once and make $ over and over.
I wrote on another post about a lady I know that did this with her handmade items and sells the videos for about $30 and sells one every other day.
You could also sell the actual items, too.

If you'd like to find a way to work at home and support your living, perhaps you may take a look at this site: www.giftamax.com (http://www.giftamax.com)
You may check out their cost and do a quick research in eBay for similar items. Should be able to get a decent profit margin.
I've tried that and it worked. I'm not selling in eBay anymore and so not a problem to disclose here.
Good luck
