I cannot believe this. I mean I guess I can, but heck, I was hoping to write articles for them through the summer while my tutoring job was defunct for the summer. Oh well, just wanted to let everyone know who doesn't already know!

I just saw this today also. What a disappointment! Hopefully they will be back up and running soon!

Well, now I guess I know why I never heard back from them -not a wise time to be taking on new writers!

I hope they'll be back!

Someone else told me they did this once before for about six months. So hopefully it is just something like that. But dang, I am going to miss the extra $$$ :-(

UGH! I was so psyched 'cuz I got email today saying they had sold my second article and I was making good money with WFC.

I was thinking of giving up one of my call center jobs, which I am not so psyched about. smileys/smiley5.gif

But, I guess I'll stick it out with the phone work smileys/smiley19.gifand keep my fingers crossed thatWFC is up and running soon!

I am SOO sad about this, I've been writing for them for 4 months now and have really enjoyed doing it, and the money. I just lost my regular job, so I was kind of relying on them to supplement my income...sigh...

Until then, there is always http://beta.associatedcontent.com (http://beta.associatedcontent.com), http://www.constantcontent.com (http://www.constantcontent.com), and http://www.finetuning.com.

Also, you may want to check into rentacoder.com. The writing jobs are usually ghostwriting jobs. Winning bids areoften on the low side, but sometimes there's a job for decent pay. Also, you don't have to pay to bid on jobs, the way you do for some of the jobson elance and guru. Instead, rentacoder takes a percentage from the amount you are paid.

I don't know, I've seen quite a few rumors flying around at various forums. Someone said they called and the WFC phone had been disconnected. Therehave not been any additional posts by WFC on theforum, soI just hope we get paid. I had five articles in my queue when I got the notice and I was going to finish them all, but I only finished two and I think I am going to stop at that. Been burned too many times before by web sites that have shut down (although as nice as WFC has been to the writers, I'd hate to think they would do that to us). Guess we will know on June 1st :-)

I have 2 left in my queue, but the one I was ready to write by the deadline is gone, so I am just waiting for two more to be approved. I highly doubt they will not pay us for May, they assured everyone we will get our pay on June 1 like usual, but it is scary that their contact number isnt working anymore. I have a bad feeling they may not reopen, and if they do it will be a long time, which is really disappointing since I love WFC and have really relied on them for extra income.. now I have to keep looking somewhere else to come even close to what I was getting from them.. smileys/smiley19.gif

Meeshee1,

Did you hear back from Finetuning yet? I hope they approve you. They seem to be alot like WFC (you have to sign away your rights :-( ), but from what I have heard, they pay more for articles. I submitted one that was accepted, but I had used it somewhere else, so I told them and now I am going to have to rewrite it.

I cannot remember if that was the one that is also writer-base.com?? If it is, then no, they rejected me like one day later and never even told me why! Just said I was not going to be hired.. I never did understand what I did wrong, I just basically got a rejection letter... smileys/smiley18.gif

Libby,

As I stated on the WFC forum, Pagewise and JJKent would never ruin
their reputation by not paying writers. I wrote over 150 articles for
WFC and have never had an issue with payment. In fact, talk to anyone
who ever worked for WFC and guaranteed you 'd be hard pressed to find
anyone who has been stiffed by JJKent/Pagewise.

Don't believe the alarmist posts on the board.

Yes, it just changed from Writer Base to Finetuning. I'm sorry they rejected you- I've seen them reject quite a few people here. I am not sure what exactly they are looking for sometimes :-( Well, there are other places to write for - hopefully they can replace some of the lost income from WFC.

I know, I have always been paid as well and I know they have never stiffed anyone on payment. It just seems weird that they have always been so good to tell us exactly what is going on (at least in the six months I have written for them) and now they are not saying much.

This sounds bad (from April on the WFC forum):

"An email will go out to all of the writers who've signed up at writeforcash.com if WFC comes back. The forum will be permanently closed, I believe."

Okay, I bolded the if, but it still sounds like they might not be back this time smileys/smiley5.gif
