I have a good friend who is a Mary Kay consultant, and she and I had a brainstorm about doing a promotiontogether and inviting all our customers.... The problem is, she is out of town for the next two weeks and I really need to get the ball rolling on this because we are planning it for November. She's already agreed to do it and loves the idea, but couldn't give me any input before she left. She just told me that whatever I plan is good with her!

We will both be sending invitations out to all of our customers, doing a mailing to some of the local churches, having flyers put up all over town, plus an ad in the newspaper and radio (if we can afford it).

Anyway, what I need to know from some Mary Kay reps is the lingo that you use so that I get the invitations and flyers printed correctly.

What we are planning is to have women register to come for an afternoon of pampering and devotions. We have a community center that has some very comfortable couches and over stuffed chairs, so we thought they could first do the Mary Kay foot program (and I can't remember what she calls it!!!). Do they call that a foot massage? She has done them before but I'm totally drawing a blank as to what it's called. She has tubs and you soak your feet for a while and then uses all the hands and feet products.

Then we'd have everyone relax and I'd get out some of my devotional books for the ladies to read. We'd have two groups going... one would be a group that could share the devotionals with others and the other group could simply relax and read by themselves if they'd like.

We're also throwing around the idea of inviting someone with Pampered Chef or Our Family Favorites or some kind of food product and have them make little snacks and such. That would help get more invitations out to more customers and then we also would not have to provide a refreshment smileys/smiley2.gif.

So, what do you think? Here are some questions I have....

Should we charge for this event? Maybe just $2.00 a person, to help us with the cost of renting the community center.

What do we call it?

What is the Mary Kay foot program called????

Any and all ideas are definitely welcome!!!! Maybe some of you could plan an event like this in your town and we call could benefit from the advice given here.

Thanks!

Bev

I am not a mary kay rep but I know the thing they have for hands is
called "Satin Hands" and I have heard they use that on feet too.

You could call it "Sit, Soak, Savor"

Sit and soak your feet, and savor a good book and refreshments.

COntacting a Tastefully Simple or Pampered Chef rep is a great
idea. Even if they can't make it they could still donate a tray
of food and you could have a sign "Donated by Sue Smith, TS Rep" and
her catalogs sat out.

Good luck!

Thanks,

Should we each have a display set upand try to sell products? Or should we view it as more like collecting names for future sales and shows? We're thinking if we make sure we stress that they aren't obligated to buy anything, we may be a better response....

I am SOOOOO excited!!!!

I just talked with the Community Center where I want to hold this, and he is NOT going to charge us to use it for our event!!!

He said that since my boss (at my regular job) is a member of the Community Board, and it's going to be church related, he will not charge me a penny!!!

I am so psyched! Their normal cost is $75 an hour for the rental!

He also said that he will invite his whole church from a neighboring town and encourage them to come!!!

Wooo Hooo!!!!

This is going to be so great!!! I can't wait to tell my friend! We were sweating about the fee.... wewere planning on 2 hours, because neither of us has a lot of money to waste but we were afraid that wasn't enough time if they wanted to stay and linger. This way, what we were going to use for rental can go towards advertising!

I'm jumping up and down right now! lol!
