I'M NOT CREATIVE!!! I need your help here thinking outside the box....me and my three girls got asked to do this womens pampering session for about 30-40 women. It's for the women who have spouses overseas and will be coming home the end of July. They are also going to have massage therapists, manicures, and pedicures. So I thought we'd set up stations and each of us would be in charge of a station that the ladies could just walk around to.
I did tell themour services would be free, but we'll have to brainstorm together to figure out a way to be compensated for our time.Such as doing a few spa baskets to give away,or even a raffle of some sort... she was fine with that. This is where I need your help...right away I thought of the Cabana Girl Line since it's so cheap.
So lets hear your ideas. Ifwe can tie it into the military theme that would be awesome. I was also thinking if the raffle could give something back that would be great to.

I wouldn't give something away that you're not going to get anything from. What I did at my last "big event" was had a drawing for either a Cabana Girl Mini (1 winner; rest got consolation prizes of $5 off their order of $35+) and Microderm Abrasion Treatments (everyone that registered "won"). I contacted all the entrants of the MDA and told them they won, and I got 6 bookings out of it. I did my first one today. It was just a one on one, so I was only there for about 20 minutes, and I sold her a $30 eye creme. Well worth my time.
At the event, I had my BeautiCase set up for people to try different products, and we demoed Instant Manicure and ERHT on everyone.
The MDA treatment is very popular, because you could say it is a $125 value if you were to have it professionally done. Just my two cents!Good luck! You could do a giveaway for a full size Cabana Girl instead of the mini...that would be more cost effective probably, since the prices are so low right now! Marie

Misunderstanding....the lady putting it together is willing to make the purchases for the drawings etc. Not sure how much she's willing to spend but that would be the next step. It'll come out of there groups budget. I'm sure the massages, manis, and pedi won't be free.
I'm trying to come up with a raffle idea.Where we'd take out the cost of the baskets first and then contribute something back (like a fundraiser)...but I've never done a raffle so I'm not familiar with how it works exactly!! Edited by: sfortune

Hi Sonja-
What a fun day you will have!
I think you are on the right track with the thought of doing spa stations. It would enable the guests to have a more one on one experience of the product(s) you will be featuring.
You may want to have a flyer at each station, that they can take with them that explains BC somewhat and offers them an incentive to host a Spa Escape at a later time. Have it include your contact information. It would help in the fact that if you are speaking to someone, they can take the flyer and you do not feel like you missed anyone or an opportunity.
A raffle sounds like a good idea. You could put some baskets together and sell tickets for the raffle. I would suggest a few baskets, so people feel that they have more than one chance to win.
Since the 4th of July is coming soon, there are a lot of themed items you can create your baskets with that correlate to the military. I would suggest using a clear cellophane wrap around the basket with ribbon at the top, as you will probably be moving the baskets around a bit and your items will stay put and not fall out of the basket.
As far as what to put in the baskets...whatever youkeep on hand or need to move from inventory that you have. I would include a product or two that is not from a limited line, so that you have re-order potential. I did see that the older version of packaging on the lip apeel (I think they might have some kissin' comin' up!),is on sale right now. Also the LOS samples and minis, and the HS minis. These are all items that they could fall in love with and re-order. For fillers in the basket, you could look at some party favors from a dollar store or party outlet.
You could look for a local charity that involves the military, or a national one, and let them know that XX% of the raffle ticket proceeds will be donated to the charity of choice. This will entice people to purchase more tickets for a good cause.
Last, I would put anote in the basket congratulating them on winning the raffle basket and thanking them fordonating to the specified charity. I would include your name, Independent BeautiControl Consultant, e-mail and phone. They will know to call you, if they wish to re-order.
Just some ideas. Hope this might help and you have a great time! Let us know how it turns out.

Hi again Sonja-
I just posted, then saw that you had this posted, so wanted to add....
If the gal is willing to take x amount of dollars out of the budget to purchase the baskets, then all of the raffle ticket money can be donated to the charity.
If the gal cannot give very much money out of the budget to purchase the baskets, then you can use some of the raffle profit to put toward the basket price and the remainder of the raffle profit goes to charity.
Also, a thought is that the group you are talking about seems to have a budget, so am assuming that they are a non-profit or sanctioned group of some sort. If they do not have a lot of money in the budget to give toward the baskets, you could arrange to make the donation on behalf of the group and that way they would have the tax deduction and in a budget sense, could allocate more dollars to you and break even.
For example....the groupgives you $50 for the baskets. There will be 100 people attending. Assuming you will sell 75 raffle tickets for $1.00 each. The group will receive a $75 write-off for the donation. So essentially, the group could give you $125 for the baskets and receive the write-off on their books and be just the same as if they only gave you $50!
Hope that helps and is not more confusing! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

Sorry, Sonja! I must havemisread your post...I was skimming it pretty quickly. I agree with spa5 about the baskets, and using products that will generate reorders. You can always through in some kind of coupon, too, like $5 off a $35 order or something. Hope that helps. Good luck! M

I like the idea of the lip apeel because they will be doing some smooching soon...I would try to also think about some other things a couple might need that haven't seen each other in awhile...massage oil, candles, etc...plus she will have to have beautiful, radiant skin and soft, pretty hands to look her best for him...also as far as donations go...what about doing it for WHO...the proceeds could be donated to that...just a thought

I've done a couple of raffles and silent auctions recently, and I found success with the skincare minis. I display themnicely in a gift box or basket, take all the products out, maybe a nice candle, and a coupon for a skin care consultation for her and 2 friends. Then I can afford 2-3 raffles, with more people trying the skincare.
