Hi, can my customer join with a pre-paid credit card for candle of the month club? She does not have debit card or credit card and does not wish to use those due to fees/interest and such.
Can it be deducted right from checking account without a credit/debit card?
If not do they need one with the "Associate" program?

Debra,
COTM can not be deducted from checking account w/o a credit/debit card.
Yep, she can use a pre-paid credit card--she can get those at most banks. smileys/smiley1.gif
Also, I heard a neat idea from another rep. She makes up COTM sets for some of her customers who do not want to get into credit cards, have no needforthe website (just want to be a customer) etc...Maybe she can purchase a jar, 6-12 votives, and a Bella Bar from you! smileys/smiley2.gif

Yep Deb
She sure can! That's how I joined. Just tell her to make sure she pays attention to when her COTM will ship each month so that she can make sure she has the funds on her card along with the transaction fees most prepaid CCs charge.

She definately wants to be a distributor, but does not have a credit card/debit card at this time. Does the company take checks at all for orders or otherwise? She may be thinking of an associate program, but only because of the credit card thing, but either way I think she still needs one, right?

Yep Deb she needs to have a CC. She doesn't want to get the pre paid credit card now? They don't cost anything and it's a GREAT way to go.Especially ifthe only thing that's keeping her from being a Distributor is the credit card thing. I don't believe the company takes checks....they just cut them--for us smileys/smiley17.gif
Let us know howit works out.

Deb, does she realize that she does have to have some type of a credit/debit card not only for her COTM to join but if she wants to order anything else from the company in the future that is how it works, so she will have to get something she can use all the time to run this business.

That is what I wondered regarding ordering - then no checks. Thanks!

I use my Western Union Pre-Paid Master Card all the time. Just make sure you ACTALLY HAVE more than the amount of funds in the account to make the purchase. As for putting the money in? It's pretty easy. I go to the check cashing place I've been dealing with for years now and they're cool about deposits.
As for checks, well since I don't have a bank account (thanks ex-hubby!) I usually go to the Bank that the client has the account with and they usually cash it there.
So far, so good.

If she has a checking account at abank, she can get a debit card free of charge. There are no fees or interest.

Sorry ladies, but not all banks give out debit cards, just because you have a checking account. Many banks now are running credit checks before issuing the debit cards. I've had 5 or 6 people have that happen to, this past year. Some got them, some didn't. So, if anyone is worried about their credit....most drugstores now carrying those prepaid Visa and Mastercards.

Thanks, Nan yes, this person did not qualify for a bank card. You have to apply for them at most banks.Even if you have money in your account it is like qualifying for a small loan. If you have ever had a problem with the bank, or your credit- you don't get any "extras".
I have never had a problem with the bank but I do carry large balances on credit cards and I applied for overdraft protection last year and was denied smileys/smiley18.gif. I haven't had a check bounce in years - lol.

Some banks even charge an annual fee for the debit card. But aside from the prepaid credit cards, a lot of banks and otherfinancial institutionswill offer a secured credit card. W/a bank it would usually be equal to what you deposit into a savings account. There may be a small annual fee or one time fee but not only would that enable her to join but can aid in reestablishing her credit if that is an issue.

oh wow, that is good to know. I have been with Bank of America for years and had a visa checkcard with them for a long time. I guess they are getting more strict with their accounts, but to those who have already been issued cards kinda flew under the radar!! lol
I think that they prepaid is the best idea!! Definately!! smileys/smiley2.gif
