View Full Version : What do you do at your spa

if they don't want to see the skin care? Basically, my whole spa is demoing the skin care but I've had a couple women ask to not do skin care because they are only interested in the spa products. So, what all would I be doing instead?

All I can think to do is:

SOH
ER
Lip Apeel/Eye Pads
Relax
WGTM
Microderm Abrassion
foot cream's

If that is all I do, I don't think it would last more then 30 minutes. Should I be adding something else to it? Or maybe I need to find more to talk about with these products...I don't normally have more than a minute or two to say about these products.

Thanks for your help, you wonderful bunch of women!! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley10.gif

Boy that's a tough one that I haven't fortunately run across yet. But, I guess if I did (hopefully I would have alot of the other products), I would demo all the different lines on different parts of the body.

Maybe....

SOH and ER at sink. Have them sit and ask for them to pick one spot on body that aches and let them try the Instant Comfort Gel.

Then do feet. If you are able to collect the foot creme or body lotion from each of the product lines (brown sugar, sugar, mineral lotion, HS, SYS, Margarita, Cabana) you can pass each around and let them sniff and pick their favorite and apply to feet before baggies. Trust me, this is what I used to do, back when I wasnt recruiting (ha/ha) and it takes time!

Then have them use the leg appeal on one leg (I just have them do the first 2 steps and ask if anyone would like to try the tanner and has experience in applying a self tannerand just pick one person for that. If you don't want to do the Leg Apeel, then at least get the AntiAsh creme and let them apply that to their legs. (Guess you need to advise them to wear shorts for this http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)

Then Lip Apeel and Eye Pads, relaxation, and lip balm.

Then if you are fortunate enough to have the TDS line and the LOS line, you can explain that the "Red Line"washes away the stress (toxins)while the "Blue Line" locks in the comfort, relaxation (moisture).

Then I would talk about the Corticure, Sculptique, and Demarkable and the bath minerals and finish them off with their choice of the sugar spa cologne or the new FOR HER cologne.

But with all that said, it is really a bummer to be asked not to do the skincare as that is the bulk of our reorder business. But maybe you can mention at the spa how passionate you are about skincare and you would like to treat each person to an individual facial at a different time and do a one on one facial with them! Good Luck,,,,sorry for such a long post.

Coral,

I can help here!! I focus most of my Spas on the Spa products and not the MRP, I know it is wrong and I am limiting myself but I am working to expand my comfort zone. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif I focus on the Spa products because I LOVE THEM and shows!

What I do is the same things you have listed. You are right, it is about 30 mins but then I have the table loaded with every set we carry in front of them, and I say lets walk through the Catalog quickly, and I say "in the front is our Skin care systems. BeautiControl does not focus on oily, dry or combination, we focus on the age your skin is acting...then I hit each set quickly naming off the 20's are for...the 30's are for..." this entire thing takes just a moment but is enough to get them thinking about where they fit in and what their skin is like. Then I quickly walk them through each page showing "this is where you will find the ER lotion we used, this is our Save Your Sol set, it is focused on...and is perfect if you have..." Then I say "okay ladies the table in front of you has all of the different lines BC carries, that we just saw in the catalog. They are all open and ready for play so feel free to try anything you see!" Then I use the hostess and say "This is my favorite, Sue smell this...oh and I like this too, feel this" this gets the ball rolling and soon everyone is smelling touching and purchasing! (And even selling MRPsets).

Because your hostess isn't interested it does not mean that her guests are not, and going over it breifly in the Catalog (as on this page you will find...) you have introduced it and still met with the wishes of your Hostess!

I hope this helps you!

you could also add a little more time to the relaxation period...but i really like brenda's idea and you could even make this work if you use set sheets...just set out demos of all the different sets and go through those and you can also spend a little more time on the things you get with the purchase of the ultimate set

BoyzOnMySide

That is a great idea, Brenda! I'm not sure that I can afford to purchase every set but I do have one or two things from most of them that I can definitely use to show!
I think you are right about the rest of the women maybe being interested in the skin care...these women hosting are younger and not really focused on skincare...yet.

A longer relaxation would be nice, too. I have to practice on that because I seem to lose interest more then anything during this part...I usually have them laughing and joking around instead. lol

I a recruit of mine was worried about ordering all of the sets as well. What I told her (that works for her) and that you have hit on is that she has at least one item from each set so they can get the idea of the smell.

Good luck I hope it turns out great for you!!

definately...also the sets sheets I use are all from things in the kit and that is the stuff I have in stock so you could have a set of skin care, a repair set with regeneration gold and the gold eye cream, a set with MDA, buffer and CBC, silky hands and feet that has SOH, HSFC and ER, and use those just to show what comes in the kit...or you could just take it out one by one from your bag to show ALL that you get in the kit

I don't usually demo. the skin care at my Spa, but I talk about it briefly at the end. I mainly focus on the Spa products because that's what my recruiter did and I'm comfortable with it. I have an outline that I use if you would like to see it. I have one that uses foot tubs and one that uses Spa socks. My Spas take 1-2 hrs. depending on the size of the crowd.

I think if you don't demo the MRP, you are doing yourself and your customers a HUGE disservice! Just because one or two people aren't interested in the Skin Care, it does not mean that everyone is! I am speaking fromexperience. When I joined BeautiControl, they did not train us to demo the Skin Care, just talk about it. Then they changed it to demo it on the back of the hand (which is how they had always done it in the past). Trust me, when you demo it, you WILL sell it! Now there are even some Consultants who demo it on the Clients' face at the spa. Think about the very first time you used the Skin Care...how did it make your skin feel? Didn't you see an immediate difference?

Your reorders are going to come from your Skin Care. Most people do not repurchase the Spa products at regular intervals. They buy it as a special treat. The Skin Care is something people will continue to purchase as it runs out. Theseare just my thoughts. The beauty of this business is that you can run your business your way! But I STRONGLY encourage those of you who aren't demoing the Skin Care to start! BeautiControl's MRP system is an EXCLUSIVE system. We are theONLY company that does that! Skin Care is a HUGE part of Spas! Even if you go to a Day Spa...microderm abrasion...peels...body wraps. Those are ALL Skin Care treatments! By not demoing Skin Care, you are denying your customers of MAJOR part of the Spa experience!

Hope that helps. I will get off my soap box now. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gifHee hee! Marie

Hi,
I have to agree with Marie, I was going to stop doing skin care because I was doing it at the bathroom sink and it was a huge pain. But my friend told me she never would have bought the skincare if she hadn't tried it first, nor would she have joined for the discount.

Now I do it with cloths soaked in detox at the couch. This works really well and I always tell people they can demo on their arm if they don't want to try it on their face (everyone usually ends up trying on their face). I've sold a lot more skincare since I started doing this.

Becky, I love the idea of having everyone try the neckwrap and talking about the hostess and what's special about her. That's such a great way to pamper her in a different way.

Coral - if they really don't want skin care as a part of their spa then maybe add foot soaks with scrubs and cream...

Just my two cents.

I do what is in the ulitmate spa set, the consultant kit. I have added the Cabana girl Fuzzy Navel lotion when I massage arms, but that it about it. I also started letting them put the Herbal Serenity foot cream on their foot and then stick their foot in a ziploc bag for the whole spa. They take the bag off at the end and their foot is super soft. I have sold a lot of that foot cream since I stated doing that.

I also have to agree with demoing the skincare. What I have found that works well for me is demoing it on the back of their hand. Also, when you have a young crowd, tell them how beautiful their skin is and that you realize they aren't thinking about skincare much now because they have such beautiful, youthful skin. However, when you get to "my" age, you will wish that you had taken the time back then to take care of it. Your skin is the only skin you are ever going to get! So take care of it now! Then I explain to them all the damage I did to my skin by lifeguarding for 8 yrs, slathering on all the baby oil to get as dark as I could. I never thought twice about using SPF or what I was doing to my skin. And that I wish someone would have taught me how to take better care of it so I'm not fighting the battle now.

They NEED the skincare line... they just don't know it yet!

What I have found is to keep the spa simple. The guests do like this, as they don't become so overwhelmed. I demonstrate what is in the Ultimate Spa Kit, and will add just a couple extra's such as; brown sugar or spa sugar for the arms, andalmost always use, save your soul foot scrub & salve for the foot ( this is a big seller for me ). I never skip the skin care. I give the guests a choice of either using the back of their hand or they may use one side of their face. I do let my hostess use the microderm in front of their guest, and then let them share how it feels. This goes over very well. I always sale the skin care to my hostesses. Something to think about, skin care will be re-order's, which is very important. This is just my suggestion, and I hope this helps. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

I have to agree! I use to not demo the skincare-and the first timeI did demo it I got a recruit from it because she couldn't believe how soft her skin was! So now I demo at every spa-yes, it takes up time-but I agree with some that this is a reorder product and you will benefit from it later on! I also give the ones that schedule a spa escape and mark it on the calendar-a "mini" skincare set to get them started-so by the time they have there spa-they are already loving it and telling there friends about it!

I used to have the same issue with some hostesses not wanting skin care, but it is all how you romance it. Here is my spa outline -- and if they want to do a facial mask while in relaxation, the skin care is a must:

SOH
Ext. Repair
Instant Comfort Gel
Introductions
Hostess Thank You
Facial Cleanser (cheeks down)
Green Tea Mask (cheeks down)
MDA (hostess only - on back of hand)
TDS Detox Body Facial or Luxuries Fango Seaweed Mask (cheeks down)
Spa organic enzyme mask on feet (plastic bags over top)
Lipmask
Eyepads

5 to 10 minute relaxation

Remove lipmask
Remove mask on face
Lip balm
Toner (cheeks down)
Vitamin C (cheeks down)
Moisturizer (cheeks down)

Have them compare their face from their cheeks down to their forehead.

Foot scrub on top of enzyme mask on feet (trust me this is awesome)
Wipe off scrub/mask on feet
Foot Creme
Spa socks

Close

It only takes an hour. If they purchase the skin care they get a personal advanced skin care appointment where they can invite 1 friend (who is not at that spa) for a choice of MDA, chemical peel or vitamin c serum treatment...plus a personalized makeover. I am selling skin care like crazy now and I no longer have the hostesses not wanting me to demo skin care.

Hope this helps!
