I am new to the home party thing, but I must say that I am absolutely loving it. I love the parties as well as everything I am learning along the way. I got an email from my director the other day that said something about thinking outside of the box. So I thought who better to go to for some out of the box ideas than the ladies on wahm. So I was wondering if you all would share some of the things you have done in your business that made you money or helped to grow your business that were "outside of the box". I thought this thread could be a good resource for new people like me or even people that have hit a wall in their business.

I can't wait to read what you all have to say!

Hi Kimberley!

Great question! smileys/smiley2.gif

For me, thinking outside the boxinvolves afew things:

1.) "My kids are older!" So we had a games party with the older kids!

2.) I don't have time to do a party, I work to much! So I do a lunchroom party at work!

3.) We just want to have fun! So do a Marga-READ-a party. Moms only with Margarita's and a focus on reading!

4.) I need to get my numbers, fast! Make a list of all the businesses that need toys! Dr.'s offices, waiting rooms, daycares, etc and go peddaling! It takes a different skill then parties, but can be fun if you put it as a challenge to yourself.

I can't wait to read others responses! Personally, I do love parties as well! Just remember, HOSTESS COACH! LOL! That's a whole new thread! But it works!

I don't know if this qualifies as "out of the box" but......

I am working with my children's school PTO to supply jewelry at deep discounts for their Santa's Workshop. This is an event where the children can come and purchase inexpensive Christmas presents for their family and friends. I am pricing the jewelrybelow cost so I won't make a proffit, and I am covering the sales tax, but I figure this would be a great way to get my name out and provide a quality present option kids can afford.

Well, since I see you are with Spice it UP, one idea for you is
to have a Romantic Couple's event. Maybe around Valentine's
day? Invite a bunch of couples over for dinner or appetizers
(strawberries and chocolate), have candles lit and the lights dimmed.

You could then do a little presentation on massage and let them sample some of your gel (I assume you sell some).

If you also sell "toys", you could have a separate room (family room,
office, etc) set up with some of that in there and offer them to go one
at a time to the "toy" room to do any of that shoppingsmileys/smiley2.gif

I don't know if this qualifies as outside the box, either, but I went to an "Adult Party" back when I was in college. I don't know if you live near a college, but I do know that nobody left that party without a little brown bag full of stuff!!

Good luck!

What about taking a cue from Oprah? Host a show that allows the guests to shop for the Hurricane survivors or a battered women's shelter, etc. Obviously the guests could order for themselves as well during the show but they could choose an item or two to go into a "basket" for the chosen needy cause.

I just had to laugh, Candy! I don't think you realize what company Kimberly works for!! ;)

I'm not sure a battered women's shelter or hurricane victims really need Spice It Up! products! ;)

Nevertheless, it's a good idea for other party planners!

That is too funny. No I don't think that my local battered womans shelter or hurricane are in need of my products (or are they?), but I thought this thread could be good for any of us that to give and take ideas. I did just sign up with Discovery Toys so that I can have a business that my daughters can be involved with so Candy's idea did get me to thinking that maybe we could do something to benefit the children at a woman's shelter.

You ladies are too funny. DH looks at me like I am crazy because sometimes these posts actually make me laugh out loud.

It was and thank you because you gave me something to put on my to do list for Monday. We have donated all of the girls cloths that they have outgrown over the years to a shelter for women and children so I know the people over their pretty well. I will be calling them to see if I can use their name as part of a toyraiser for the children their.
