Hi! I am really excited about joining the Mia Bella family. I just had some questions and I haven't been able to get a response from my original contact. Please somebody help me!
What I want to know is this...If I can't afford to start with the 140.00 starter pack is that going to be a problem do you think?
I haven't really ever tried anything like this, but am really excited about it, is this something I should try to do?
Is this something most of you consider a hobby, or is it really a profitable business? I have tons of great ideas about how to market them, I can't think of anything else.
I guess I am just picturing all of these upwardly mobile Mom's out there playuing around with this for fun. Not to insult anyone. I just have neighbors like that, they are into the 'flavor of the month' club type of home business. I am not looking to get rich, just be home with my kids and make some extra income providing something for others that I feel passionate about. Thanks everyone for reading my post!

Lesly,
This is a biz that you can have fun w/ AND make income--extra income or full-time
Don't worry--If you can't afford the Sample Pack--you can just join the COTM (candle of the month) for 39.95 and get started that way.
You'll get a 16 oz jar, 12 votives, a Bella Bar and your website!!

Hello Lesly,
You are free to 'shop' for an upline to choose the person that best suits you, your schedule and your personality!
When choosing an upline it is best to choose someone you are comfortable with and someone whom will be available for you when you need them.
I will gladly answer any questions you have, many people simply start with their first candle of the month (cotm) and build a business from there!
Sure there are many people who do Mia Bella as a 'hobby' then there are those of us who do Mia Bella as a business! Honestly, I started with Mia Bella a year ago intending for it to be a 'hobby' however it soon turned into my second business! So I do Mia Bella part time in addition to my otherbusiness!
You definitly can make Mia Bella - or any direct sales business - a way for you to earn an income and be home with your children. Itis all about the passion and fire you have within you to succeed. Iquit my 'JOB' in 2002 and have been home with my daughter ever since! It was the BESTthing I ever did!
You have to choose a business that you have a passion for, you have to use and love the products, and this will shine through to people you meet!
I wish you the best in your decision and feel free to contact me with any questions, I'd be honored to assist you no matter whom you choose to partner with as we are all a family.

Lesly...
Just like Andrea and Alethea have said:
You CAN start this business with just your 39.95 Candle of the Month membership. It ends up being a little more because of the shipping and tax but still...you DON'T have to purchase any of the "starter packs" to get started. The person who you were originally speaking to about the opportunity may have told you that so that you would be able to have product on hand for "cash and carry" purchases. Again that's not a necessity.
Personally I think you are making a wise decision to come on board the Mia Bella Success Train! Everyone is so helpful whether you're one of their direct team members or not. We all look at ourselves as one huge team anyway. I would suggest taking heed to what Alethea has said though...when you're signing up choose a sponsor that will be there for you and will actually help you get started and succeed. Since I came into the company (two months ago today) I've heard a couple of "horror" stories about sponsors and upline. However that certainly isn't the "run of the mill". My sponsor and upline are TERRIFIC and that seems to be the norm for this company. I LOVE IT!

LOL smileys/smiley36.gif
Imagine you forgetting lmao.smileys/smiley2.gif
So I just found out I have to have a license for every city I want to sell in, in the state of Alabama. So it really bites for me, because I have to get 3 license. One for Madison County, this isa have to have, one for Huntsville City (if I plan on selling there, I live there lol) and one for Madison City. UGH! OH well thats gonna be about 200.00 probably. OH well, gotta do what I gotta do. So I figure I will get tax id too, happy happy joy joy.
I did get good news though, I have my first vendor expo on Oct 14th. WHOOHOOO, can't wait. Soooo Now I have to come up with a business name for my licenses. I can't use bamasweetscents, 1 because thats just for Mia Bella, and since I am a consultant for silverwear I want something that I can use for both. Does that make sense? Esp since I have gift baskets, votive roses etc. I plan on making one central website, with the Mia Bella Banner on it since I can't sell them on it persay. Any insight would be helpful.

Hi Lesly!smileys/smiley4.gif
I was very careful to join Mia Bella with a very strong team. My friend/partner interviewed a few teams before I jumped into Mia Bella to build a great business!.
I then interviewed them and the owners of the company.
That was 2 years ago and I am so thankful that we did our due diligence. It's been such a tremendous Mia Bella business team growth!
I have had the great pleasure of working with Mia Bella Leaders Margey, Andrea and Dinika who joined my team.I know that they also did their research and made their decisions based on that and seem to be extremely happy with our team and their growth.
Much Scent-Sational Success to YOU!smileys/smiley2.gif

Hi Pat,
I love it when you come down here! I would contact your local county and find out from them! I know here in Ga, we do not need it unless we are participating in vendor fairs or selling directly to retail stores.
Hope that helps hon!

Lucky you, Natalie! lol Here in NJ I'm sure they've got some craziness in store for anyone trying to earn a dime. lol
I'm just still have a fantasy of making those votive roses. lol It's the creative side of me begging to be unleashed.
Don't think I would enjoy vendor venues anyway. But, craft fairs and such would be cool.
How about just standing in a grocery store parking lot with your trunk full of candles open? lol Wonder what kind of a license you need for that. I'd prefer face to face, one on one kind of selling I think. Really don't want to do parties anymore. I don't know anyone where I live now. lol But, hitting someone when they least expect it with a, "Hey, smell this," might work. lol
I don't know, just dreaming a bit. Needing extra cash just like everyone else. I think I'm obsessed!

I'm sure the business is fun, Lori, but that's not what I've beentalkingabout. The process of getting legal to sell the candles in my State is what's holding me back. lol It's probably not as difficult as I imagine it to be, but I have to get a new image of the process in my head first. I tend to over-think things and stress myself out. Have to change that first. lol
Natalie, my dear, dear friend, you may be a lot younger than me, but your head is screwed on tighter than mine. lol I'm really trying to think things through this time, and you help me so much by remaining calm and inciteful while I'm off in, "Manic Neverland." lol

smileys/smiley32.gifHi Pat, let me tell you, yes it can be a little overwhelming, but all it takes is just some research. smileys/smiley36.gifIts not that bad, I just wish I had researched it sooner, but its no biggie, I am going to our local offices friday and getting it all taken care of. Please do not let that stop you. This is a wonderful business and very profitable. All you have to do is visit your local gov site and it should tell you.
If you have any other questions about that let me know by email or pm me. I love my sponsor (NAT) smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley32.gif
So anywho, please think about it, but you do need to make a decision based on your comfort level and thats what is important, not all the people trying to recruit you. smileys/smiley2.gif
Good Luck in your decision no matter what you choose.

RE: Licensing!
Just a quick note - when you call your licensing office be sure to tell them you are a representative for a direct sales company! You should not need a business license at all.
If you call them and say "I want to start a candle business" that is a whole different ball of wax! Be sure to say "I am curious if I need a license, I am a candle consultant for Scent Sations a direct sales company, etc...etc...
You may want to consider ia resale license - which if optional and means basically that you collect sales tax and submit it to the state quarterly. However ifyou let SS charge you taxes, then you do not need to collect taxes or pay taxes to your state in most instances.
The licensing jargonIknow from experience! The first time I called I told them "I want to run a business from my home" and they told me I had to get a $700 Home Occupation Permit - I about passed out! I thought about it and called back, they thought I meant I wanted to have a store front at my home where people came to shop! When I explained that I had an internet based/home party type biz they had a totally different story and $25 later.... lol smileys/smiley2.gif
Anyways, I wanted to tell you just in case you maybe worded it differently when you called about your license!

I agree with Alethea also. It does make a difference in the cost. My total for all three is only going to be about 125.00 because i am in direct sales, i think they call it a transient business.
