How many book companies are there? I know about Usborne, Family Books at Home and Good Books & Company. Are there any others? Edited by: cinnamonmomof3

Hmmm, I can't think of any others, unless you want to include Scrapbook companies.

You'll soon all hear about Heritage Makers too. We don't sell books,
our customers make their own! Just merged with MyFamily.com and growing
like crazy! PM me if you'd like more information on how it works!

Yes, Heritage Makers looks cool! I was/am looking for books to read with my kids. I have asked for a few catalogs already. If I could have my dream job, I would work at the Library!!

When I was little I use to think it would be so awesome to be stuck in the library at night when everyone was gone! I love the library too, or a really great bookstore with good coffee.

Heheheehe! That is EXACTLY why I started working for Heritage Makers!
My mom taught me to LOVE books when I was 4, and she was a passionate
writer as well. So I grew up thinking that there were THREE things
required to survive...food...water...and BOOKS! I even LOVE the smell
of libraries!
My greatest dream NOW is having a library in my home where most of the
books are written by people I know. My teen daughter is a fabulous poet
and is working on her Heritage Makers poetry book. My ten year old son
loves dinosaurs and ancient history and he is drawing pictures that I
will scan and help him enter into his own book.
My father was career Navy and I can now make a book about his tour of
duty in Vietnam that will make that part of history personal to my
children because they can read grandpa's story. And while sadly, my
mother was never officially "published" before she passed away, now I
can immortalize her words myself!
Being able to write a book about your child and put their own pictures
into it is a powerful experience. My 4 year old son reads with his
daddy every night before bed, and I can hardly wait for his book to be
done so I can listen in the night my husband says "Noah...tonight's
story is about...YOU!!" My two year old daughter's book was the first
one I wrote and it took me 45 minutes total! She carries it everywhere
and shows it to complete strangers saying 'Hannah book! Hannah book!"
and they stop and take it from her and start to thumb through it and
then look at me with HUGE eyes and ask 'HOW did you do this?"
I've never worked for any company that was LESS like selling and more like TEACHING in my life!!
So if all of you writers out there are looking for a FABULOUS way to
spread your passion for books while teaching other people to write
theirs, we would LOVE to have you. We literally do not have consultants
in every state yet and with this merger we will be gaining around
800,000 customers and WHO is going to teach those people how to make
books??????
Ok...pant pant....I'm done. I just LOVE this job and my books and I
can't stop sharing how cool it is. There is not another company on the
planet who can print SINGLE RUN BOOKS for under $50.00!!

I made an anniversary book for my parents from www.mypublisher.com (http://www.mypublisher.com) and it was so awesome! It was a huge coffee table style book with words and pictures from the time they met until now. I even scanned in an old photo booth pic from the late 60s and then enlarged it A LOT and it turned out perfect! I was so pleased!
My MIL gets my kids an Illustory package every year for Christmas and they write and publish their own book - those are a treasure to me to see the changes as they get older and the kinds of things they come up with!
Ah thefeel of books, I love nice big heavy hardcover ones! :)

Cinnamon,
Being that you also homeschool, the Usborne Books have LOTS of books that work for a curriculum! I love the library of books I've built for my daughters! Every night my oldest and I read a book, and she always goes right for an Usborne one! She's learned so much already at 21 months and I'm so happy about that! I hope as she grows she continues to love to read!!

My daughter got her first library card at 3 years old. She was so excited to go and pick out books! (Believe it or not...Usborne are not the ONLY books she reads- ...lol)
But, it is fun having a full library of Usborne at home as well!

Boy, THAT's the truth! Before I became a consultant, if I wanted to read something, I had to go out and buy it. Now, I'm never without something to read smileys/smiley36.gif. In fact, there are usually quite a few on my list that I haven't gotten to yet! We just got a new catalog and received our samples from it and I've gotten through two of them so far but still have 4 more to read! Plus, I have about 4 fiction books that I want to read too!

Highlights for Children has a direct selling company called Highlights-Jigsaw. We started in 2002.
Highlights-Jigsaw sells LOTS of books by Boyds Mill Press. These books are library quality books in hard or soft back. All the artwork inside is original art--nothing is computer generated. I sell them to schools, libraries, and families. You can look on the Boyd's Mill Press website to see the fine quality. http://www.boydsmillspress.com/ Then if you want to order, or want more information about our company, please let me know. You can also go to the Highlights-Jigsaw website, but since you specifically asked for books, this site is probably the best for you to view.
Let me know if I can help answer any questions!
