It's me again! I have narrowed my decision down to two companies:

Home and Garden Party

At Home America

I am having a really hard time deciding now between these two. HGP has better hostess plan, commission, AHA has FREE sign up (possibility). I like the looks of AHA's catalog better and their variety of products. I like HGP's incentives and no monthlyparty submission.

I just don't know what to do here!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif I am driving myself nuts thinking about it!

Honestly? Go with the one whose products you like better. The more you love the products, the more your customers will, too!

Blessings,

Free sign up can be good, but look at your hostess plans, the happier the hostess the easier to book. I have been with HGP for 7 years, and there is always something extra for the hostess in addition to what they already offer.
And commission, one party's commission can pay for that kit cost, look at how much you will make vs. how much you don't, and what fees come out of the commission that you will get.
You have to like the product in order to sell it. If you don't really care for the product you arn't going to convince someone else to buy it.
Monthly quotas are awful. I had to take a month of with my daughter when she wrecked her dirt bike. I liked knowing I wouldn't be considered inactive or loose my downline, because of no sales. I also took a year off because of so much going on at home, and wasn't penalized for it. It is supposed to be YOUR business.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your decision.

Make sure you know what the "FREE" signup entails (sometimes free is not really"free"). If you have to pay/earn for your kit, either plan would have this option - one paid upfront and paid with first show(s), the other no upfront money, but earned with first show(s).

Go with what product line you prefer. It will show in your attitude & approach. Good luck!

Go with your heart.

The main reason people host a party isn't for the free products.

It's to:

--Help out a friend
--Share a product they love with others
--They plan to shop anyway

Best of luck!

Hope I can help=

with AHA there is no monthly party submission requirement. You just need to to submit a min. of $150 to be considered active. Only after 6 months of no shows will you be inactive.

Honestly, our hostess program gives the hostess a ton of FREE and discounted merchandise. I have not had a hostess complain. I agree with db- most people do it because they love the products and want to have fun! Plus, we offer DOUBLE credit twice a year, we offer new hostess specials every month that are JUST for hostesses and more! Most hostesses avg. around $300 in FREE and discounted merchandise!

I also agree that you need to go with company whose products you love. And as far as commissions go:The more you sell the happier your hostess will be, the more bookings you will get and the more money you will make. People can see if you are excited about something.

And last about our Start for FREE. There is no money up front, but there is a sales requirement of $1000 in your first 35days. And when you join, you are required to have 3 shows set up at a min. And with the company avg. of $500 (my personal is $470 it is easily attainable. If you do miss, you will need to pay $149 but the value of the kit is over $450.

Plus, when you join in may you can earn your fall/holiday kit as well. Another value of over $250!

With our road to success you can earn another $450 in FREE stuff and even a laptop computer!

Our catalogs are awesome, our products appeal to everyone and the quality and price is great! The company itself is great and you WILL get to meet Lisa & Becky! They are just the best.

The opportunity with AHA is truly open everywhere. So you definitely can build a team!

If you have any more questions ( of course I am partial, LOLhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif) just ask!

I hope that you will join us!

Ditto to what Nicole said! LOL
As for the "free" sign up.....I did it in one show, my grand opening and booked 8 parties. It's a piece of cake. Show the 2 catalogs to friends, neighbors and get their opinions. I did that with AHA, HGP, SLAH and Signature Homestyles when I was trying to decide...AHA won hands down, but i gott tell ya, I had my mind made up anyway...GO WITH WHAT YOU LIKE and if you do choose AHA...welcometo the family! You'll love it. If you choose something else, best of luck to you! I'm sure you'll do great with whatever you choose! Don't over think it...JUST DO IT!

I agree with Nora, I think that YOU have to like the product, and feel it is better.

You may want to compare costs of products, shipping costs, shipping times and automated tools.

Just some thoughts. Good luck.

This is My opinion...

Here are the postives:

Home and Garden Party- higher commissions, more hostess benefits, get paid night of party, car program

Athome America-more diversity, more consultant awards offered (computer, etc), LOVE products

Here are the negatives:

Home and Garden Party-limited in diversity, too many non-related items (jewelry??), pay for party sumbission

Athome America-only get paid twice a month, lower commissions, pay for portion of hostess benefits

HGP pay for party submissions? What is that? AHA you pay for hostess benefits? I don't remember reading about that when I was looking through their materials.

decor8- I think both companies have a lot to offer. Go with the one that you LOVE the products and would want everything in your own home!!Edited by: Dbacksmom

AtHome America pays for 99.9% of the hostess program. We pay $5 per show submitted that night plus we have the option of offering our hostess a booking bonus that costs between $3 and $11(comes out of our commissions). They are tax write offs.
We could go back and forth between the two but I agree with everyone else- both companies offer their consultants great options, commissions, trip incentives etc.

When it comes down to it YOU need to LOVE the product! If you can't sell it, everything else doesn't matter!

Go with what youLOVE! We SURE LOVE AHA!

Hmmm, so AHA commission starts at 20%, but then you pay a fee for hostess benefits and booking bonuses. That's interesting, the person Iwas working with didn't share that with me.

The booking bonus is like gold, hostess always have bookings lined up before I even get there, the booking gift is betwwen 29.99 - 79.99~ I will gladly help pay for it, I NEVER have a problem booking shows!

I am partial because my wife is with AtHome America but I dothink it is a great company.I can't believe how much they give the consultants. I met the owners and they are great. It is a nice company to be a part of. And I I like the stuff too (especially since it is all over our house. LOL)

Although I like Nora am partial to HGP, it does pay to analyze the whole package. I love receiving my commission the night of the show, my previous company would mail us our checks only if the orders were in the home office by Friday (used to spend alot to overnight the paperwork for a paycheck).

I like the no quota unless you have a team, no drop off if you are inactive, the variety of the products (it is easier to wear jewelry to the grocery store than a bean pot LOL), free shipping, com[any management, and leadership team that supports each other. I like the no take aways on team building. I also like the variety of prices available.

Like I said I'm partial but I've been through a lot of growth in the past 9 years with HGP.

Good luck with your decision.

Lynn

You know I am actually glad I am taking so long to decide because I keep learning more and more about each company. I was looking over some of the other companies again last night and noticed something I hadn't seen before.

I was looking at the Henn consultant agreement. You can sign up for $150 and make 3 payments of $50 each for 3 months, BUT the kit is not considered your own unless you qualify with $1,000 in sales in 60 days. If you don't, and you do not return the kit they will charge your credit card the full retail amount of each item in the kit! You have to give them your CC # with your signature that you agree to that. WOW!
Now, for those who are serious about a business $1,000 isn't that much, but what if "life" happens and you can't get the $1,000 in by 60 days? I don't like that kind of control.

Anyway, I am still searching. and the new items from SLAH look fantastic (they were recently shared with me) SLAH was one of my original 3 companies that I liked!

With AHA besides being able to earn your studio and business supplies valued at $450 for FREE when you qualify (just pay tax and shipping)and the additional homewares valued at $450, if you join during the month of June and qualify be selling that $1000 you ALSO receive $200 in Fall/Holiday HomeWares!
