I was reading through another post and decided to begin a new topic about something that was said about catalogs.
I read about one gals idea to put the catalogs into binders during a show and then collect them at the end. Do you tell the ladies to return them at the end of the evening as you pass them out? smileys/smiley5.gif
I guess my question is how to go about it if you are out and about and someone asks you about the business and if you have a catalog. DO you give them one and then follow up and if they order something let them keep it or do you ask for it back. They are an expense and I find I' go through quite a few and just wasn't sure about how to get them back without offending anyone, lol.
Thanks,
VAl

I read the post about catalogs also, and was interested because I have gone through a lot of catalogs. I think the idea of putting them in a binder of some sort would be great for parties and maybe even showing them one on one. If they are in a binder then the person looking at them is likely to give them back because they look like something that you keep and not just selling material. At least that's what I think.

I personally don't ask for them back. You never know where the person you gave it to is going to set it down and who will see it next. Let's say Igive Sally a catalog and it's layingon her kitchen table. Bobbie stops over to drop off some things to Sally& subconciously notices it, maybe even asks or comments on it. A week later Bobbie is talking to her friend Teri who is complaining about her dry skin.Of course Bobbie wants to help outboth of her friends and lets Teri know how to get ahold of Sally.I love networking!!!smileys/smiley36.gif This obviously doesn't happen every time, but the more catalogs that are out there, the better your odds are. Sally could have left it on her desk at work, lost it at the gym or anywhere.
I just make sure I put myname, title, ID#, and phone numberon the bottom left cornerr of the cover so that anyone can easily see who to get ahold of when they decide to buy. I haven't ordered the gold stickers yet, I just printed my info on regular address labels for now.

I wish somebody had told us at first
exactly what we needed to buy to
get started. I understand one has
to invest money to make money, but
we sure need to invest wisely.
I am learning slowly it really depends
on how one intends to run "ones own
business".

I agree Terry & Betty. Depending on our personalities, markets, finances, we have to develop our own business plan and or business model. So much of what we do is trial & error. It's so nice that we have each other to bounce ideas off of and learn from.

Even at this point I don't think I am sure of
what my niche will be. I know that I will not
be able to be all things to all men (and women).
