http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gifHELP! I’ve been scammed by shopperservices.com. I am new to mystery shopping. Shoppersevervices was the first company I signed up with, and they railroaded me. Over the phone they told me they needed my email address, phone number and physical address. I thought this would be for business reasons; to contact me for assignments. I immediately began getting SPAM, telemarketers, and junk mail. They also needed my credit card information for postage and handling of $9.95 to send me training material. I also had to pay two more fees of $9.95 for some kind of shopping and traveling discount programs. I had about 12 days if I wanted to cancel. I was told the material would be here in 5 days. It arrived in 10. The training material was nothing but a few pages of a disclosure filled with legalese. Snuggled in this mess in very small print were two more fees of about $30.00 each. There are twelve days in the trial period and it took 10 day for me to get the material. Now there are 2 days left. I called shopperservices, and they said the fees were a monthly membership fee AND access fee for there website. I cancelled because I have learned that you should not pay anything to be a secret shopper. I also had to call the other two companies to cancel. The girl on the phone told me that I was no longer active. My membership was canceled. This month, another charge for $9.95 showed up on my credit card. I called shopperservices and a man told me I was not canceled and he would not reverse the charges, (my bank has). In fact he got real ugly. Has anyone else dealt with these people? How do I get them off my back?! New shoppers need to be warned of www.shopperservices.com (http://www.shopperservices.com/). They are bad for the whole industry.

I would like to express my appreciation to Wachovia bank for pressuring ShopperServices.com into reversing their fraudulent charges. Thank you, Wachovia.

So glad that you got the problem straightened out. Always remember that there is enough free information out there to shop so you never ever pay to do it. As much as I do not really like the owner of Volition, he does do a great job with his job board and company lists. Msfreedom is also another one that has a nice message board, job board, and company list. All of the above is free, and the other shoppers on MsFreedom are awesome and very helpful.

Wow..... yeah, you should never have to pay for any job. Investing in businesses is one thing-but that needs to be carefully researched, but jobs -never....

I also joined the shoppers services but then got on the computer to check out thieire site for the training and i came across wahm, I read all the reviews about this being a scam, I then called the 800 number to cancel and the other customer service numbers that they gave me and was given a cancelation confirmation number, I also called the 800 number for the web store and was told to call back in 48 hours because I wasn't in the system yet. I didn't keep playing with them I called my bank and told them what I had done, and my bank advised me to cancel my debit card so no charges would come out of my account, I also gave all other names of these companies that they gave me and the scam officer at my bank will be looking at my account several times during the day. I was assured that no charges would come out because my debit card was canceled immediately.
Thank you for all the input about this company.
God Bless all who helped me today.
