Hi. I recently joined a moms group and several members requested I host an open house so they can check out the greeting cakes. Has anyone hosted an open house before? What should I bring? What cakes should I have available? How do you display your cakes? I have never done this before so I want to be prepared. I just joined GCC less than a month ago so I am still learning. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Bring a sampleof a few cakes and make a flyer w/ some of the different labels we offer. You can use a long board and just lay the cakes on the side to display them. I use a preety colored plastic table liner to cover the board. You can have one opened and displayed for them to see what comes in the cake.

Do you make a cake for the guests to sample?

In your experience, have home parties been profitable or just a way of getting the product out there?

It's a good way to get the product out there.

Within the next week or so. I joined this new mom's group yesterday and posted info on the Greeting Cake Co on their message board last night. By this morning I had 3 inquiries about the cakes and the organizer offered to host a party/open house. It's all happening really fast and I want to be prepared! I do want to have it soon so I can get orders for the end of the school year teacher gifts.
