Hi everyone! I just joined a Party Plan company and need ideas on how to earn the money for my kit. I have already been told to hold a Garage Sale, but we just moved and already got rid of everything, and I mean everything we didn't need.
Do you have any other suggestions? I look forward to hearing from you all!!
Thanks!Edited by: hbarbre

Resale clearance, auction, yard sale items on Ebay.
Check out "Earn Your Kit" programs--some party plans offer them.
Even if they don't, some consultants will help you out--like give you
the profit of a catalog show for example.

That's all I can think of for now--good luck!

Can you host a party (using your sponsor's supplies/products) and have the commission go towards your kit?
Best of luck!

What biz/products are you selling? The best way is to go out and sell! Tell me more about what you are doing,
Debbie

I am signing up for a Romance Party Plan. (Slumber Parties). The company does not have an "earn your kit" option.
Unfortunately, borrowing the money is out of the question and we do not use credit cards. So....I need some creative ideas here.smileys/smiley2.gif

Can you do a pre-launch/catalog party and use the profits towards your kit?
Or what about a "romance" night where you charge x amount and give romantic consultations! Everyone who is a customer will then get a coupon/discount when they host your first party!
And, don't get mad, but, why don't you open up a special checking account for your job and get a CC to go with it. Only use it for business expenses. And pay it off first thing. It will motivate you to book, book, book! Sell, sell, sell!
Or ask a family member if you can use their number just this once.
Best of luck!

I agree with Debbie. It will be good for you to have a credit card for your business anyways. When you enter in your parties, many people will write you a check and you can get an "earning" credit card (to earn airline miles or store GC's or whatever) and charge the difference to your credit card for every party. Use the checks to pay it off right away. It is an AWESOME way to really rack up those miles/rewards!
I also agree with the idea to get your close friends/family to pre-order from you. Have your sponsor send/give you some catalogs and collect the orders AND payment and use the pre-commission to buy your starter kit and then once you are signed up, you can input those orders right away. Just make sure that the people you are getting orders from know that it might take a little longer than usual to get their orders.

Credit cards are out of the question. I can't handle them and it is more responsible for me NOT to have one. I am just looking out for myself and staying out of debt. And, my credit is horrible, so I can't get one.
I do have a debit card to make purchases with online or over the phone. And, when I get my business up and running, I am going to use a separate account just for it.
I am not sure about a catalog party...I will have to ask. Thanks for the idea!

I guess it would also depend on how much money you need. If you need less than $100 or so, you could probably find other areas of your budget to cut back on.
You might end up eating tuna noodle casserole for three weeks, but you'd have your money! :)
Good luck!

The kit is $250 plus shipping and handling. And, if I want a website (which I do) it is like an extra $200 for the year. They charge you up front. So, I got a job taking customer service phone calls at home. Hopefully that will bring in the much needed extra money for my kit.
Thanks for all the help!

Hi Holly!
If you are worried about getting in debt, you will need to be extremely
careful with an "inventory type" party plan. I know from
experience. I am a consultant for two party plans--one I have
inventory and the other I do not. I broke a profit very quickly
with the non-inventory type. With my Noah's Ark--not
downing the plan in ANY way--I accumulated way too much inventory and
with inventory type plans, you have a tendency to want to "stock up"
when you are feeling positive about growing a business. Okay,
yes, my other company is a romance company with no inventory and with
an earn your kit; however, I know that you have decided on Slumber
Parties--I'm not trying to convert you over to Spice It Up. I'm
just trying to be a friend and caution you. Inventory plans are
great--not knocking them at all!--just be careful and wise (not like
me!)

How about a raffle. Offera raffle of X amount dollar worth of your new product. Sell raffle tickets or squares -figure out how much you need to sell them for and how many you need to sell-us the profit from the raffle to cover the cost of your kit. You could even invite everyone to your grand opening party to do the drawing and announce the winner. The night of the party give the winner a gift certificate for X amount and let her shop!
Just an idea. I am sure you will get lots of others.
